#Geneva: Happening now at the 10th Conference of States Parties to the #ArmsTradeTreaty (ATT) – our side-event titled, “A practical example of interagency cooperation process: Learning from the Arms and Ammunition Management Validation System (AAMVS)”. On the Agenda: 🔸 Introduction of the AAMVS project with updates on key findings from its pilot phase. 🔸 Contributions from #Ghana, #Liberia, and #Czechia, who piloted the self-assessment tool earlier this year. They share first-hand experiences on its use to support information exchange on stockpile management for diversion risk assessments, and perspectives as both importers and exporters. 🔸 Highlights on the tool's role in enhancing national interagency cooperation and strengthening the implementation of the ATT. We thank the European Union for their contribution towards this project (through EU Council Decision 2022/2275). #CSP10

📣 U.S. Department of State Reaches $200 Million Settlement with RTX Corporation for Export Violations On August 30, 2024, the U.S. Department of State reached a $200 million administrative settlement with RTX Corporation (RTX) for 750 violations of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 🚨 The violations involved unauthorized exports of defense articles, including classified items, and non-compliance with DDTC authorizations. RTX voluntarily disclosed the violations and cooperated with the investigation, leading to a 36-month Consent Agreement. 💰 RTX will pay $100 million upfront, with the remaining $100 million suspended for Department-approved compliance measures. An external Special Compliance Officer will oversee the agreement, ensuring future adherence to ITAR regulations.
