Navigating the Development and Entitlement Process: A Crucial Step for Successful Projects At Design With Skill, we understand that the development and entitlement process is a fundamental aspect of any successful architectural project. It’s a journey that requires strategic planning, expert knowledge, and meticulous attention to detail. The entitlement process involves obtaining the necessary approvals from local government entities to develop or redevelop a property. This can include zoning changes, variances, and permits, ensuring the project aligns with community standards and regulations. Simplifying the Complicated We know the entitlement process can be daunting. With our deep expertise and proven track record, we make it easier for our clients by: Streamlining the Process: Our knowledge and experience allows us to efficiently manage the many details and requirements, ensuring a smooth and timely progression. Clear Communication: We keep our clients informed at every step, demystifying complex procedures and providing transparent updates. Problem Solving: Our proactive approach means we handle potential issues before they become obstacles, ensuring a seamless experience. Building Relationships: Our strong relationships with municipalities and community stakeholders are crucial in facilitating approvals and fostering community support for our projects. The entitlement process can significantly impact the timeline, budget, and feasibility of a project. At Design With Skill, our expertise in managing this process allows us to deliver projects that are not only architecturally exceptional but also compliant and community-approved. If you’re looking to embark on a development project and need a trusted partner to guide you through the complexities of the entitlement process, connect with us! https://lnkd.in/eHe7WdEU #Architecture #UrbanDevelopment #EntitlementProcess #SustainableDesign #CommunityEngagement #DesignWithSkill

Don't let your project become part of the 85% of building projects that end up out out of control. The Macleamy Curve shows a better way. Developed by architect Patrick MacLeamy, the curve shows that design changes are easier and less costly when made early in a project. It emphasizes that as a project progresses, changes become more expensive and harder to implement. By front-loading efforts and decision-making during the early design stages, the curve demonstrates improved efficiency, reduced costs, and better project outcomes. This means investing in a process. We've developed the ideal first step to get you started on the right foot. https://lnkd.in/dEeeWzmC

📣 Great discussion kicked off by Sam Norledge - what do you think about "The Data Chasm" between the (AEC) and the (O)? Here are my thoughts… 💡I’ve recently moved from the (AEC) to the (O) end of the built environment, and it's fascinating to see the world from another perspective. Data standardisation within the BMS, OT and IoT space is practically non-existent, and alignment with the standards achieved in the (AEC) space, e.g., ISO19650 & IFC, deserves a lot more discussion. ✨Data labelling alignment “across the data chasm” between the (AEC) and (O) is essential if we are ever to fulfil the promise of Digital Twins as self-aware and continually commissioning buildings optimised for their purpose and the people that occupy them. 🤖Google led the way with an emerging standard for IoT and OT devices called UDMI, which is gaining traction and something we are super focused on contributing to and advancing at Tyrrell Building Technologies Group 💭 Still, I believe UDMI alignment with ISO19650 and consistent data labelling that relates IoT/Sensor data to its building space location is essential.

Last year, I teamed up with fellow MSI engineers (Daniel Watson from Hereworks, John Clarke from One Sightsolutions LTD, and James Thomas from SES Engineering Services) to write an article under the Digital Buildings Council for the Smart Buildings Show magazine Not sure how I feel about it though... 😔 I'm happy with the article, but it's crazy that we all keep running into the same problems on all our projects! It doesn't matter how we deliver our work – we all face these same avoidable issues. We wanted to raise awareness, so we highlighted these problems in the article. We do our best to avoid them, but it's an uphill battle. Other industries have already figured this out, so why haven't we? It seems like a lot of people are confused or don't understand why things need to change. To be honest, many are still using outdated methods. The Digital Buildings Council is doing awesome work by getting experts in one room! We haven't found the perfect solution yet, but we're open to ideas. Share your thoughts here, or DM me if you don't want to post publicly. Let's work together to make everyone's lives easier! and make Smart building delivery more accessible to all with minimal risk. https://lnkd.in/ev76c6rB
