With the clocks now set back, many of us are already feeling the effects of shorter days and darker mornings. If you’ve noticed your sleep feels disrupted or your energy is lagging, you’re not alone. Sustain Health Magazine share in their latest article that searches for “trouble sleeping” have surged as people adjust to the seasonal time change, with many struggling to keep their internal clocks on track. The darker mornings that come with the clock change can impact our circadian rhythm, which regulates sleep and energy levels, explains Cathy Lawson, our Mental Health & Wellbeing Coach. Even a quick walk outside or sitting by a sunny window can help reset your internal clock, keeping energy and mood steady as the days get darker. Lawson suggests making this a daily habit, even now that the clocks have changed. Morning light exposure helps maintain a consistent sleep cycle, and if you’re unable to get outside in the morning, consider a lunchtime stroll or setting up your workspace near a window. Have a read of the full article for more insights: #WorkplaceWellbeing #Sleep #EnergyLevels #Productivity

What comes to mind when you say "I need to take care of my health" -- Diet? Exercise? Sleep? Routine checkups? But how many times have you intentionally thought about taking care of your 'mental' health? I don’t know about you, but I am yet to meet a person who would answer this question in the negative - “Do you want to feel happy?” If mental wellbeing helps us achieve exactly that - a positive state of mind, a sense of purpose, a resilience to cope with life’s challenges, building meaningful relationships – why would we neglect this important aspect of our overall wellbeing? Sadly enough, with the fast-paced, high stress lives we lead, most of us do not realize what we are putting ourselves through until it's too late. We push ourselves to the limit, burn the candle at both ends, and ignore the warning signs of mental strain. 3 years ago, I had a personal crisis with mental health that required immediate, painful, and often frustrating, intervention methods. I went through many trials and errors trying to find the right solution, numerous hours of research and studying, and connecting with multiple experts in this space. After the crisis was over, one thing was clear – the situation I had been in was preventable. All I needed to do was proactively make mental wellbeing a priority. Just like evaluating the contributors to our physical health – are we eating nutritious food, are we getting enough sleep, are we exercising regularly – assessing the contributors to our mental health is equally important. How am I feeling, are there aspects of my life that cause me stress, am I taking care of myself, am I making time for what is important to me – these are just some areas to reflect on, act upon regularly and build positive habits. This #MentalHealthAwareness week Q Studio will share practical tips that can help your mental health and overall wellbeing. Building these positive habits requires discipline and practice, but over time the habits will become self-reinforcing, and you will start seeing its life-changing effects. I have incorporated many of these practices in my life, and I strongly encourage you to give it a try. Start prioritizing your #mentalwellbeing today!
