Want a money and time saving business-hack? Start your hiring process with the President / CEO role in your company. Meaning that if you are creating roles or hiring new people, define this executive role first with some form of a written job description. Why? All work flows out from the top position in the company. If it isn't written down what the President / CEO is doing, then it is likely that the positions all along the chain that report into this position, are not aligned. This was reinforced for me recently talking to Matthew Birch from Legacy Profit Solutions. He connects companies with fractional CFO's, Accountants and Bookkeepers. What Matthew said is if a company needs all three of these services, it's best to start with selecting the CFO. The CFO will then be responsible for choosing or helping to choose the Accountant and Bookkeepers who will best support the financial plan developed for the company. It's why we say at #Rhealize that building org charts and job descriptions is a "top-down" exercise. Starting with the CEO / President ensures that all the other roles in the company are heading in the same direction and aligned with overarching goals.
