The best kind of #recycling (outside of #food #composting to reduce #heat and improve our #soil) is YOU recycling a generous contribution to eco #nonprofits through #EarthGivesDay. Only 2% of all giving goes to #climateaction and #environment work. We can do better. We must do better. Head to EarthGives🌎org now and choose 2 organizations that you might contribute to. Consider what you spend on #coffee each week. Can you swing that as a monthly recurring investment in the teams of people doing the work - protecting our water, air, health, wildlife and so much more? It's a #lifeinsurance investment you can make for your kids and those you love. #Love can be #recycled for true impact. Our year, 2024, started off in Matheran, a slice of the Western Ghats. It made us realize how much we yearn for the quaintness of nature that we do not get in urban regions. I was even ready to trade anything for fresh air and greenery. Matheran, along with other hill stations risk losing their evergreen trees and biodiversity if future development proceeds unchecked. While I hope for the best, there are things that we can do to preserve and restore ecological balance of the planet. This year’s World Environment Day theme is Generation Restoration, one that gives us the hope that what’s lost can be regained. Paresh and I have been educating ourselves and adopting environmentally friendly practices to reduce harmful impacts. As avid travelers, we always follow local waste management rules, recognizing the significant burden tourists can leave behind. We also educate others about these practices. While there is no compromise on that, here are a few sustainable habits we pledge to embrace. - Donate saplings and encourage those with gardens or land to plant trees - Donate clothes and household items in good condition. - Encourage adults to donate used books and children to read them. - Consciously minimize water wastage. Will be sharing the updates on these efforts in the coming months. Do share some of the practices you follow and the progress you’ve made. PS: Having a partner (parent, spouse, sibling, friend, or anyone else) makes it easier to stay mindful and committed to sustainability. #GenerationRestoration #EnvironmentDay #Sustainability

Today is Earth Day. 🌍 It highlights the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, and encourages us to fight for a brighter future. This year’s theme is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of all plastics by 2040 for the sake of human and planetary health. So, how can we help? 👐 There are plenty of incredible organisations around the world that are on the ground, changing the planet for the better. One being The Ocean Cleanup – a non-profit that develops technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. They’ve removed over 9 million kilograms of rubbish from the environment to date. Their mission is to clean up 90% of floating ocean plastic pollution by 2040. Our Earth Day donation to The Ocean Cleanup will go towards researching, extracting, and monitoring plastic pollution in oceans and rivers globally. Back on dry land 🌳 Trees are integral to all life – we exist because of them. So, we’re delighted to announce Jersey Trees for Life as our new environment pillar charity. Their mission is to plant, protect, and nurture trees while educating and inspiring the community about their environmental and social importance. Jersey Trees for Life and National Trust for Jersey launched a fund dedicated to the restoration of Jersey’s trees, hedgerows, and woodlands following the damage caused by Storm Ciarán. They’re working to replace storm-damaged trees on land for public amenity and enjoyment, and ensure the right trees are planted in the right places across the island. Saltgate will support Jersey Trees for Life’s projects through upcoming charitable initiatives and events with our team. Looking after our planet should be a year-round commitment. We’re proud to solidify this and drive positive change through our new partnership with Jersey Trees for Life and donation to The Ocean Cleanup. #EarthDay #Enviornment #JerseyTreesforLife #TheOceanCleanup #FundAdministration #Jersey #JerseyCI #Luxembourg #London

British households create over 26m tonnes of waste each year, the weight of around 260 large cruise ships. This means that the average person in the UK throws away around 400kg of waste each year; 7 times their body weight. Today is Global Recycling Day 🌍 an annual day that helps to acknowledge that #recycling is a key part of the #Shropshire circular economy helping to protect the environment and Earth’s natural resources. Did you know that wasting food not only wastes money but also has a significant impact on the environment? When food is wasted, it ends up in landfills, where it produces methane - a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.⠀ ⠀ By being mindful of our food waste, we can help reduce the environmental impact of our daily lives. Start by planning meals, buying only what you need, and storing food properly. And if you do end up with leftovers, consider donating them to a local food bank or composting them instead of throwing them away.⠀ ⠀

Happy Arbor Day! The first Arbor Day was observed back in 1872 with the planting of more than one million trees in Nebraska! Arbor Day is now celebrated worldwide by schools, community organizations, and local authorities. Trees keep our neighborhoods clean and green by giving us fresh air and contributing to a healthier environment while also providing cooling. We can all commit to reducing our carbon footprint by taking eco-friendly actions and making an impact towards a more sustainable future. Corporations are now moving away from fossil fuels, and as individuals, we can donate to deforestation revivement efforts, start a garden, plant a tree, etc. What steps will you take to make a positive impact on our planet? #ArborDay #EnvironmentalCare #Sustainability

I don't know about you but I don't think we talk about #recycling enough anymore. I'm a firm believer in the ability for our economy to #reduce #reuse and #recycle and that this can have tangible benefits for #shropshirebusiness by driving a #circulareconomy Reducing our waste, and the demand for buying new or single-use items, is as important as reusing old or unwanted items or repurposing them into something new. Recycling is one of the most accessible habits that anyone can adopt, yet many still struggle to regularly recycle. On #GlobalRecyclingDay let's make one small change to lead to a big difference.

City to Sea's #EarthDay appeal with Big Give is now live! 🎉 Meaning every pound we receive over the next week, will be matched at no extra cost to you. Our rivers are crisis! Our reliance on single-use plastics is adding unnecessary strain to these already struggling ecosystems, with a shocking 80% of the ocean’s plastic pollution travelling via our rivers 😲 Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our vital campaigning work to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. Recent Marine Conservation Society beach clean data shows more than 480,000 items of litter found on UK beaches - with drinks-related litter one of the most found! By donating to our Earth Day appeal, YOU can do something about this. For ONE WEEK ONLY, every pound will be matched – so your £25 becomes £50 to go towards powering our campaigns like Refill to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. https://lnkd.in/eaRECQkF

Net Zero Waste Case Study: Garden Centre Disposal We were recently called to a large garden centre that had been affected by recent storms. Despite a lot of damage, a significant quantity of stock items were salvageable, and our team sprang into action to ensure they were handled responsibly. From the damanged items, we managed to save approximately 150 tons of waste, including wood and plastics, sending them to our trusted recycling partners for processing. Recognising the value in community support, we decided to donate the planters to a local charity, ensuring they found new life and purpose. In just two days, Evoque cleared the site entirely. By diverting materials from landfills and promoting reuse, we're proud to have played a part in minimising environmental impact. 🌍 Go to our website for more interesting case studies like this one - https://lnkd.in/e8FFuKqN #Evoque #NetZeroWaste #Sustainability #CaseStudy #Recycling #CommunitySupport #EnvironmentalImpact #GardenCentre #StormDamage #CircularEconomy
