At Sanvi Mahila Jan Seva Sansthan, we recognize the irreplaceable value of healthy soil as the cornerstone of life. Every handful of soil is a thriving ecosystem that provides food, supports biodiversity, and helps regulate our planet’s climate. Unfortunately, soil degradation is becoming a silent crisis that threatens food security, natural resources, and the well-being of future generations. Our mission is to raise awareness and take action to protect and restore this essential resource. Through sustainable farming practices, community education, and soil conservation initiatives, we are empowering women, farmers, and communities to understand the critical role soil plays in their lives and the environment. By nurturing the soil, we are not only improving crop yields but also fostering healthier communities, cleaner water, and more resilient ecosystems. Our work is driven by the belief that protecting soil today ensures a sustainable and prosperous tomorrow. Join us in the movement to protect, restore, and regenerate the soil beneath our feet. Together, we can build a future where the earth’s most valuable resource is cherished, preserved, and passed on to the next generation in its full vitality.

🌿 Highlights from #AmsterdamSustainableBreakthroughsDay 🌍 On November 25, 2024, Planting on Demand collaborated with the City of Amsterdam and planting partner FOLT Lake Tanganyika for a live planting session hosted by Harm Edens at the Amsterdam Sustainable Breakthroughs Day | 6th Climate Event. 📡 The event featured a live broadcast from #Tanzania with Said Katensi, CEO of FOLT Lake Tanganyika, and his team, alongside Planting on Demand founder René Post. 🌱 As part of the event, 1,750 food producing trees were supported as a gift for attendees. These food-producing trees reflect a decolonial approach, with FOLT Lake Tanganyika leading the projects. This initiative follows the 90/10 model, ensuring 90 cents of every euro directly support tree-planting efforts. Planting on Demand live-planting session emphasizes #Fairness, #Transparency, and #GlobalCollaboration, focusing on community-led, food-based tree planting to restore nature and strengthen agroforestry systems. Thank you to all participants, including civil servants, social partners, and Amsterdammers, for contributing to this initiative. 🎥 Missed it? What melts up there, matters down here. We’re so excited to celebrate the launch of an incredible piece of work from icebreaker and Protect Our Winters. DOWNSTREAM explores the impact of glacier loss on our planet and our downstream communities globally, spanning three catchments across Europe, the USA and New Zealand. One of those regions is our local Waitaki River, and we teamed up with POW to produce this section of the documentary. We travelled the Waitaki catchment and met with ZQRX growers David and Lisa Anderson at Bog Roy Station and Professor David Norton, exploring how regenerative agriculture can serve a crucial role in protecting our planet, our ecosystems, and the future we all share. Well done to the teams at icebreaker and Protect Our Winters on this impactful piece of work, driving meaningful action for a better future. DOWNSTREAM. As global temperatures rise and cities become overheated, it is necessary to find solutions to make cities cooler and more liveable. Reducing traffic, planting trees, and rooftop farming can help. Another solution is to plant mini forests or pocket forests, also known as Miyawaki forests. They grow quickly and can help reduce temperatures while bringing back native plants and biodiversity. We recently organized a tour of the first Miyawaki forest in the Northeast to learn firsthand from the organization behind this great initiative. Delve into our work and what we discovered at https://lnkd.in/gdEE2FbK
