Need to Start identifying future sites that merit a physical visit.

Mapping of new terrain across the electromagnetic spectrum to sub meter pixel size is paramount for the prospecting , identification and quantitazation of potential lunar resources. This is needed before any sustainable base/station can be selected for growing and permanent human habitation.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) just dropped one of the most important tools ever created for #spaceeconomy development. 🗺️🧭🌕 ⚖️ Under the rule of law, maps are an overlooked but essential tool. Without them: 🚑 Emergency services take too long to reach those in need. 💡Municipalities have no meaning because there is no way to distinguish one town from the next. 💰Economies do not exist because there is no way to define a given area such that one can measure the activities therein. Apollo 17, launched on December 7, 1972, was the final mission of NASA's Apollo program that successfully landed on the Moon. Commanded by Eugene Cernan, with Harrison Schmitt as the Lunar Module Pilot and Ronald Evans as the Command Module Pilot, Apollo 17 marked the last time humans have visited the lunar surface. The mission achieved significant scientific returns, bringing back the largest haul of moon rocks and soil samples. The mission's highlights included over three days spent on the lunar surface, during which Cernan and Schmitt conducted three extravehicular activities (EVAs), or moonwalks, covering more than 35 kilometers using the Lunar Roving Vehicle. The mission's success provided invaluable data about the Moon's geology, atmosphere, and history, contributing to our understanding of the solar system. Apollo 17's return to Earth on December 19, 1972, concluded humanity's first era of manned lunar exploration. Volcanic Moon May Orbit Distant Exoplanet WASP-49 b ✦ https://lnkd.in/d5rqGGnu NASA's JPL study reveals a Saturn-sized exoplanet, WASP-49 b, possibly has a volcanic moon. A sodium cloud, out of sync with the planet, may indicate an exomoon akin to Jupiter's Io. MUST ECLIPSE Mark your calendars! A total eclipse of the sun will take place on April 8, turning daylight to total darkness as the moon lines up perfectly between the Earth and the sun. The total eclipse is predicted to begin at 3:26 p.m. ET and last for one minute and 27 seconds (depending on where you are). This is when scientists get a chance to study the corona, the sun’s outer atmosphere that becomes visible during the event. Get ready, because according to NASA, the next total solar eclipse in our region won’t take place for another 20 years, on August 23, 2044. Per NASA: View the Sun through eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer during the partial eclipse phases before and after totality. You can view the eclipse directly without proper eye protection only when the Moon completely obscures the Sun’s bright face – during the brief and spectacular period known as totality. (You’ll know it’s safe when you can no longer see any part of the Sun through eclipse glasses or a solar viewer.) As soon as you see even a little bit of the bright Sun reappear after totality, immediately put your eclipse glasses back on or use a handheld solar viewer to look at the Sun.
