To write on the genocide that is taking place in Gaza, and say something new about it, and also something that does, as much as it can, justice to the horror that is happening, is not an easy task. Therefore we are incredibly happy with the our latest contribution, written by Carlo Rey Lacsamana (this will be his second text for Thought Magicians). While for most, the topic of beauty might occur to them as the last possible connection to be drawn to this situation, Carlo is able to reflect on both beauty and horror, justice and injustice, at the same time, by comparing the Netanyahu government to Goliath. A Memorial for Reconciliation Through Deconstructivism This Project is a Civil War Memorial and Museum located at the heart of Beirut’s Bachoura-Sodeco area; a site historically divided by the Green Line during the Lebanese Civil War. In this project, Deconstructivism architecture is employed to reflect the chaos, fragmentation, and deep emotional scars left by the war. The dynamic, intersecting walls and fragmented forms evoke the tragedy experienced by both sides of the conflict. Yet, the design ultimately seeks reconciliation and unity, symbolizing a bridge connecting East and West Beirut.
