During last week's webinar, our panelists offered incredible insights into how virtual internships don't just benefit the interns—they help companies grow too. From improving internal processes to fostering innovation, internships challenge organizations to become more adaptable and creative. Here’s the full response that left a lasting impression on all of us: "It will make you a better company. It will because of your culture. It will improve your culture. As the saying goes, 'you never master a topic until you teach it.' When you have to teach things down to perhaps the lowest level of capacity, where you have a completely new intern, it will help you develop better standard operating procedures and processes. It will also allow you to leverage interns to do the market research and discovery work, to look at new and creative ways to expand your products and services. So we're all huge advocates of internships and Virtual Internships specifically, as a platform to grow your organizations, grow your businesses, and drive positive change in the world."💬 📣💬 📣

Please wish me luck in my newest endeavor! I am almost halfway through writing my new book titled "Internships in the Sport Industry: Real-World Endeavors, Competencies, and Best Practices." This work is inspired by my 15 years of guiding and mentoring University of Cincinnati Sport Administration undergraduate students with their practicum and capstone internship experiences. The book aims to benefit both students and practitioners in the sport industry.

Did you know April is #InternshipAwarenessMonth? So often, we think of internships exclusively as a pillar of the college experience; a practical application of knowledge accumulated over four years just before a student is thrust out into the real world. But while college #internships are valuable, of course, this shouldn't be the only stage of education at which they happen. In fact, according to ASA research, 79% of high school students say they’re interested in these opportunities, but only 34% said they knew how to find them — and only 2% have actually completed one. Allowing young people the chance to test and try in #highschool through internships and other #workbasedlearning experiences is crucial to helping them discvoer what they like and don't like, which then allows them to make the most informed decision possible about their path after graduation. One shining example of success is Izzy Fitzgerald, a former Big Picture Learning student whose high school internship led to a dream job at San Diego City Hall. Read Izzy's story below.
