The world can be a better place if we, as individuals are committed to being interested and having a community mindset rather than a solo-mindset. Now, isn't it astonishing how in our so-called modern society, we still turn a blind eye to the most basic acts of humanity? Picture this: a man struggling to fix his wheelchair on a busy street, clearly in need of assistance. Yet, pedestrians walk by as if he’s invisible, too absorbed in their own worlds to lend a hand. This isn't just apathy; it's a stark reminder of our collective ignorance and unwillingness to engage with the realities of disability. Where's our empathy, our sense of community? We preach about inclusivity, but our actions—or lack thereof—speak volumes. It’s high time we stop ignoring those in need and start embodying the compassion we claim to value. A disabled person/disability isn’t a cause to be overlooked. The world will be a much better place with inclusion in practice. #DisabilityAwareness #DisabilityAdvocate #Inclusion

International day of persons with disability falls during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This year, the UN’s theme asks us to amplify the leadership of people with disabilities. The Changing the Landscape framework from Our Watch and Women with Disabilities Victoria guides us in empowering women and girls with disability, by promoting 'women and girls with disabilities’ independence, agency and participation in leadership and decision-making’ - we can do this in our work, through advocacy and in community settings. You can find links to Changing the Landscape and other resources, as well as read more about turning awareness in action this 16 Days and beyond by clicking the link below. https://lnkd.in/gtVuWVNc

Human Rights Day is a powerful reminder that every person deserves equal rights, dignity, and opportunities. For millions of people with disabilities, these basic rights are often hindered by physical, social, and systemic barriers that prevent full participation in society. Let's raise awareness about the unique challenges the disabled community faces - challenges that go beyond inaccessible spaces to include exclusionary policies, social stigma, and missed opportunities. It’s time for change. We must push for better accessibility, inclusive policies, and environments where everyone can thrive, regardless of ability. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, mandates accessibility and non-discrimination, yet many barriers remain. Let’s commit to strengthening these laws and ensuring they are fully implemented, so that every individual, regardless of their abilities, can lead a life of dignity and opportunity. Together, we can create a world where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is the norm, and human rights are fully realized for all. #humanrightsday #inclusionforall #accessibilitymatters #breakingbarriers #rightsofpersonswithdisabilities #accessibilitymatters
