👀 I reviewed the 2024 #Gartner MQ for Custom Software Development services. 🤯 what caught my attention was their assumptions/predictions on how software development will evolve with AI. I may say that I found them very bullish and exaggerated: 🔹By 2027, 80% of IT services contracts that do not call for responsible use of generative AI will fail to deliver desired outcomes. 🤔 OK, new or renewed contracts should have AI clauses to protect data leakage or unauthorized ingestion of sensitive data, not to ensure better outcomes. 🔹 By 2028, 60% of IT services will be powered by the trifecta of generative AI, hyperautomation and metaverse, radically changing the services buyer landscape. 🤔 Maybe. Do you imagine that companies will throw away their current non-AI software or not require traditional development due to legal or regulatory reasons? Old-fashioned development will be strongly needed for many more years. Don’t fire your developers just yet. 🔹By 2025, 75% of developers will use generative AI to learn new software development skills, compared with 30% in 2023. 🤔 Same as my prior point. They can hire AI developers with low salaries offshore, but they should not fire the current ones yet. 🔹By 2028, the use of generative AI will reduce the cost of modernizing legacy applications by 30% from 2023 levels. 🤔 what??? Finding AI experts will be costly, and customers must pay extra costs. AI = $$$ 🔹By 2026, demand for IT development talent will stabilize as application implementation and managed services will be impacted by use of generative AI. 🤔 Definitely not by 2026. Old software will not be rebuilt by AI anytime soon or at all. AI developers will work on cooler software development. Traditional developers and software will still be the majority out there.

As the demand for customized internal tools continues to grow, no-code/low-code are emerging to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of business operations. They allow companies to reduce the costs of software development and, in some cases, eliminate the need to hire highly trained developers. 📈 Companies spend over 30% of their developer resources building internal software to solve the unique challenges that only their business faces. These challenges could be anything from exposing databases to non-technical users through analytics dashboards or creating user management portals with CRUD functionality. Teams may need to create automations for complex workflows, professionalize the execution of regular scripts or build custom applications like CRM’s that fit their needs in a way that ready-made solutions can’t. 💼 Focused exclusively on internal tools, Retool - a low-code platform is all about function over form. You can use to create automation for complex workflows or quickly build internal tools like (CRM’s, admin panels, CRUD applications, dashboards, etc.) on top of your Redis data. Build any application on top of your Google Sheets data 10x faster. 🚀 Benefits of Retool: 📌 Rapid Development: One of the most significant advantages of Retool is its ability to accelerate application development. With its user-friendly interface and extensive library of pre-built components, businesses can build tools in a matter of hours or days, rather than weeks or months. ⏱️ 📌 Enhanced Productivity: Retool allows organizations to automate workflows. This results in increased productivity and frees up employees to focus on more strategic and value-added tasks. 🔄 📌 Improved Data Access: Retool makes it easy to access and visualize data from various sources in a single application. This enhances decision-making by providing real-time insights and eliminating the need to switch between multiple tools. 📊 📌 Cost-Efficiency: Traditional software development can be costly. Retool's low-code approach significantly reduces development costs, making it an attractive option for Startups and SMBs. 💰 📌 Scalability: Retool is highly scalable, allowing businesses to expand and adapt their internal tools as their needs evolve. Whether you need a simple data dashboard or a complex workflow automation tool, Retool can accommodate your requirements. 📈 At Krasty Soft, we have a lot of experience in implementing Retool, and we’d be happy to support your business whenever you need it. 💼

💡This is the easiest and fastest way to develop software today. 🤔But it is the most confusing due to misuse of the term Low-code. Since investing in KeySoft and starting my learning curve on Low-code technology and its benefits, I've debunked many common myths about this topic. Myth 1: Low-code is only for programmers: Absolutely not! Low-code platforms are designed to be user-friendly and accessible, allowing even those without a technical background to create business applications if they are willing to learn little bit of programming structure. Myth 2: Low-code development is slow: Quite the contrary! Low-code technology reduces traditional development timelines significantly, empowering businesses to respond swiftly to market changes and internal demands. Myth 3: Low-code technology is expensive: Wrong again! Low-code development involves fewer specialized resources and less development time, which can significantly decrease overall costs. Myth 4: Low-code applications are limited in scope: Low-code platforms can be used to create diverse and enterprise level applications, from CRM systems to even complex ERP software. Myth 5: Low-code is just a trend: Low-code is here to stay. Its ability to empower businesses to control their digital transformation makes it a game-changer. Myth 6: Low-code doesn't support customization: Low-code platforms allow for fast customization to suit the unique needs of your business. Myth 7: Low-code can't impact the bottom line: Low-code solutions can significantly improve operations efficiency, communication between teams and can lead to sizable cost savings and a direct impact on the bottom line. Everyone uses the word Low-Code today and this creates confusion for those who are not tech-savvy. If we are talking about rapid development of database-driven applications, then Keysoft is among the pioneers of this technology. #LowCode #DigitalTransformation #BusinessInnovation #NoCode #WorkflowAutomation

Technology should not hinder its users! Technology should assist its users in a manner that they don't even perceive a significant technological presence. I use numerous software products daily, and often there are new updates available for those applications. Now, some of them handle upgrades to newer versions so well that you don't even notice any complexity in the process. In the app, you discover there is a new update available, and with a click, it updates your app. On the other hand, some apps suddenly cease functioning, leading to a lot of troubleshooting to get them working again. Most often, this comes down to discovering that there were new updates available and simply needing to update to the newer version. I also had the opportunity to implement an auto-upgrade feature in a legacy C++ desktop client app that communicates with a server and is used in a mission-critical environment. Developing this feature was quite challenging due to the numerous constraints that had to be satisfied. To provide a glimpse of the constraints: 1. Our app is decades old, and customers are accustomed to using it in a particular manner, so we can't disrupt their workflow with significant changes. 2. They have their automated scripts, which should not be impacted if they prefer using them instead of opting for an auto-upgrade solution. Of course, the primary value proposition of auto-upgrade is reducing operational downtime and alleviating the pain associated with missed updates. However, I managed to devise a solution despite facing numerous constraints, designed not only to support major upgrades but also to accommodate other use cases. Designing such features that seamlessly integrate with users' workflows is more of an art than a science. It requires extensive problem-solving, engagement with various stakeholders, consideration of multiple viewpoints, making difficult decisions about whose needs to prioritize, and many other factors. While the coding aspect is significant, determining what to code requires a great deal of determination and strategy. Throughout all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), keeping the customer in mind is crucial. By putting yourself in the customer's shoes, you may find solutions. The biggest challenge lies in empathizing with customers, especially since software engineers may not interact with them on a daily basis. In such cases, seeking input from various colleagues who do interact with customers can help create an accurate customer persona with the appropriate attributes. Ultimately, when you develop technology that solves an end user's problem without impeding their experience, it's an immensely gratifying feeling. Now, over to you—what do you consider when coding and devising solutions? Do you keep the end user and customer in mind? #SoftwareEngineering #SoftwareArchitecture #SoftwareDesign #ProblemSolving #Strategy #SoftwareUpgrade #ClientServer #CGM #GauravsThoughts
