On point ⛳️ The introduction, operation and further extension of the cross-zonal flow-based capacity calculation approach brings additional welfare gains to the European electricity market by better considering physical flows. However, this has also an impact on the Euphemia algorithm applied in 🇪🇺 Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC). It will take a while to assess the overall effectiveness of this transmission development plan. The new unbundled NTCSA is expected to have a double mandate in the long run (Transmission System Operator and Energy Market Operator). The current plan could be largely interpreted to chase the demands relating to its first mandate, as the Energy Market concept is still largely in the womb. A few keys that will always be intriguing to balance over time are: # How much of the short to mid-term infrastructure project scramble will translate to benefits when the second mandate's demands fully kick in? # How the overall system could be optimized, whilst being augmented (as is the case now) when its fundamental structure was founded with a bundle of energy generation concentrated on the North-Eastern corner of the country. A further challenge will also be the inevitable changing face of our economic landscape, which having been founded in mining, will naturally diversify for its very survival. This means energy demand will be less deterministic (location-wise), and the new generation will have to follow suit. # How to sustain the execution of the short to mid-term project strategy with empathy to the inflationary tendencies of this vital energy resource. Having pondered all this, it is fair to salute the NTCSA for truly wrestling with our energy transition monster; keep going, fellows.
