NEW PROJECT: FAO AGRITECH OBSERVATORY Yesterday the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia launched the FAO Agritech Observatory! With Jengalab, which is an implementation partner of the project, we are supporting the FAO team Daniela Di Gianantonio and Veronika Sherova in selecting and analyzing ICT-based solutions, good practices and digital agriculture policies and initiatives in Europe and Central Asia! This project represents the first FAO open and digital #agritech observatory of ICT-based solutions in the agricultural sector of these regions. The #observatory uniformly presents solutions by dividing information into subject-based categories that can be used to filter the database. These categories make the observatory a user-friendly and easy-to-navigate platform. The platform aims to reach #innovators, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders to explore agritech solutions, good practices, policies, #projects, and #publications. The observatory can also aid in monitoring digital agriculture #innovations, conducting regional and country-level analyses, shaping new policies and #programs, and guiding investment decisions. We are happy to contribute to the development of this interesting and challenging initiative! It all started as an initiative to connect Scandagra Lithuania management to Wageningen University & Research. Mariana, Rogier, Lizzy, the master minds behind the The Global Network of Lighthouse Farms, saw the potential for professional education and started a Lighthouse Farm Academy, to which we as Cycle to Farms contributed when addressing the realities of #regenerative agriculture in Africa. Navigating new agricultural systems and developing business models that collaborate with nature is extremely challenging. 👏 It happens now! 🌿 A policy workshop by University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) is organised to discuss the opportunities and threats that digital tools bring to Austrian agriculture, and the actions and policies needed to promote agroecology. 🗣 Our international #team met today to discuss the technical aspect of the project, specifically the data to be collected and how it will be integrated into the #Oenotraceplatform. 💻 On the screenshot you can see the exatrek interface with the tractor usage, showing the monitored fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and working hours. This can be used to generate data to account for machine emissions in the carbon balance model of the project. 🚜 Digital Agriculture Group – Geisenheim University is now responsible for collecting data on machine use during the cultivation phase of winegrowing, which will be provided to the Beia Consult International partner for the platform developed for the project. 📍 So sign up to our page to keep updated on how we progress.
