The role of drones in precision agriculture is growing drastically. In our current case study, we present a survey of a Brazilian corn area via SurveyTransfer. In addition to the traditional "real color" (RGB) survey, multispectral mapping was also prepared. Thanks to the multispectral survey, special index maps can also be created, such as the NDVI: Normalized Difference Vegetation Index. The interactive online viewer of SurveyTransfer significantly helps the coordination between the members of a geospatial survey project. In addition to all this, SurveyTransfer is a map and 3D data sharing software that is also capable of effective presentation, as it can be easily used by those who do not have in-depth technical knowledge. Yesterday we had a horizon scanning opportunity. 🌟 Courtesy of an invitation from an agricultural contractor in West Sussex, we had the chance to see the operation and potential of heavy-lifting drone technology. 💪 The company has invested in a drone that can carry and spread seed or fertiliser from the air. The drone has a carrying capacity of 70 kg and can broadcast seed into a standing crop or apply fertiliser with no risk of compaction. It can be quickly converted to carry and spray 50 L of liquid. Areas can be geofenced to create a protected, buffer zone.
