Today I'm reminded why we started hiring drivers for our fleet back in 2019. It wasn't just about us having a stable source of orders in order to earn our keep. It was to empower those drivers that were being exploited, left at the whim of an algorithm determining if one is employed or not. David Pickerell and Jimmy Thompson knows a thing or two about that fight. It was bringing together people that are supporting families, business owners, community members and more. We always spoke up and out loud for drivers. We do give a damn, where most put on a facade that they do. Actions ALWAYS spoke louder and ours hold up just fine. So y'all faking your sincerity for drivers? They're not all idiots. They know what you're doing and end of day they'll go where they make money AND have dignity and respect. It's not just making money, but having purpose and meaning while working toward something bigger. We never forgot, we just had to deal with some obstacles we had to get around in order to stay true to what we do best. Turns out the louder we were, the more people wanted us silenced and they tried to, even using dirty tactics like a defamation suit. Empowering others, bringing fair pay for work and breaking the so called standards that exist today. That's what we're all about. Where others rush to the bottom on pay and rights, we're rushing to the top and bringing everyone that's with us along for the ride. UR Services, not just another local business, but a damn good one. #texas #dsp #softwaresolutions #catering #restaurants

Today's nugget of advice is what I shared with a multi-vehicle Owner Operator: When dealing with an issue, find the root of the problem and it will greatly help you figure out a solution. Often times people focus on the wrong thing which likely means the issue will repeat itself. I used the example "if you are having trouble retaining drivers, find out why they are unhappy. Were the expectations that you set out for them unrealistic? Talk to the drivers that are leaving to find out why they are leaving, and take action to solve it". #WGOC #Zelistotle #HRstuff #problemsolving #resolution #driverretention #driverrecruiting #bestpractices #ideasharing #nowhiring #trucking #transportation #recruiter

The trends within the workplaces have changed and so have the turnover rates. The thought of quitting has overtaken employees in the toxic or unproductive workplace. The quiet quitting has led to employees being self-aware about their well-being and they do not leave the jobs. It was in 2022 when the term became the talk of the organisations. However, the concept of quiet quitting has been old and seen much earlier. There have often been examples of employees who feel no longer attached to the organisational commitments and remain aloof to the betterment of the company. The employee in such a case, does their core jobs but never wishes to go beyond their responsibilities and take enthusiasm in work for the organisational purpose. While the employee is not quitting, this can have negative implications for the organisation. This situation can be termed the precursor for employees to finally leave the job. Moreover, the disengagement of employees can never have fruitful results for the organisation. #quietquitting #employeeturnover #employeeengagement #organisationalculture

Had a great start to the day with some education from MFHA! Gerry Fernandez, founder of MFHA, talked with Eric Roy, CEO of Surf’s Up Franchising Corp. and Matthew Williams, director of DEI at US Foods about protecting employees in a conflict-charged workplace. They talked about how physical and psychological safety have become a major concern for the foodservice and hospitality industry with guests and employees increasingly face conflicts caused by political, cultural, or ideological differences. Eric and Matthew shared solutions they’ve created and how operators can adapt and create solutions that will work for them. #2024RestaurantShow

Naspers CEO grilled over worker rights At Naspers' recent AGM, the spotlight was firmly on worker rights under the leadership of new CEO Fabricio Bloisi. The Shareholder Association for Research and Education (SHARE), a Canadian-based investor group, raised serious concerns about labor practices under Bloisi’s previous tenure at iFood, which controls 80% of Brazil's food delivery market. SHARE fears that these controversial practices might be extended to other Naspers operations, including subsidiaries like Delivery Hero, Swiggy, and Mr D Food. During the AGM, Bloisi responded by emphasizing his commitment to social impact and improving worker conditions, despite the allegations against iFood. In a proactive move, Naspers Chairman Koos Bekker invited SHARE to oversee and report on the company’s labor practices globally, underscoring Naspers' dedication to ensuring fair and safe working conditions for its million-plus delivery workers. This moment highlights the critical importance of ethical leadership and the need for corporations to be held accountable for the welfare of their workers. As the debate continues, it’s clear that protecting worker rights must be at the forefront of business operations, especially in a rapidly evolving digital economy. #Leadership #WorkerRights #CorporateResponsibility #SocialImpact #Naspers #iFood #EthicalBusiness #LaborRights

In many businesses, staff complacency can be extremely frustrating. When I walked into one of my pubs and there were empty clip frames or out-of-date posters, or dusty shelves, I would ask a member of staff to attend to it, but wished that they had seen these things for themselves. Despite using checklists etc. staff seemed snow-blinded to their environment? If this ever happens in your business, read on to discover ways to prevent it. https://lnkd.in/eS_f7VSy #pubmanagement #hospitalityconsultant #hospitalitycoach #pubcoach #staffcomplacency #snowblindness #pubdoctors
