As we commence Parkinson's Awareness Month, it is my privilege to share that the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) is joining forces with two leading organizations - The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research(MJFF) and the Critical Path Institute (C-Path) to build a library of digital health technologies (DHTs) for Parkinson's Disease (PD) assessment. Building on the incredible success of the Digital Health Measurement Collaborative Community (DATAcc) by DiMe’s Library of Digital Endpoints in clinical research, the Library of Digital Measurement Products is an interactive, searchable, evidence-based, and community-supported living resource for researchers, developers, and clinicians interested in knowing “what good looks like” when it comes to digital health measurement. Alongside its current data for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and physical activity (PA), we are thrilled to expand this library to focus on quality digital measures and DHTs for PD assessment. As the library grows, all who care about Parkinson's treatment and research will have access to a best-in-class, open-access repository of DHTs representing the pinnacle of innovation in the field. From wearable and ambient technologies that monitor activities of daily living and Parkinson’s symptoms in real time to smartphone apps that facilitate remote patient monitoring and access to care, these technologies offer unprecedented insights into patients' daily lives and enable more personalized and effective care. The DHTs we are aggregating represent a genuine opportunity to create a world where individuals with PD have access to cutting-edge tools that empower them to better manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life; a world where clinicians are equipped with technologies that enable more sensitive and timely assessments leading to more personalized treatment plans; and a world where clinical and academic researchers and tech developers are armed with a treasure trove of quality data that unmasks unmet needs and accelerates the pace of discovery. At DiMe, we are steadfast in our commitment to innovation and collaboration so that the promises of these technologies can be actualized in ways that remove barriers to quality care for everyone. We honor the resilience and strength of the Parkinson's community by bringing our best to this effort, building precompetitive community collaborations like this one, and creating open-access resources so all can benefit. I sincerely thank The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Critical Path Institute (C-Path), Dr. Anat Mirelman, and the many other individuals and organizations who share this vision and make what we do at DiMe possible every day. Thank you for your dedication and support as we bridge the gap between what digital health can be and what it should be. #abcsofpd
🌷 April is Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and the Critical Path Institute (C-Path) to include digital solutions to support Parkinson’s disease (PD) research and care communities in DATAcc by DiMe’s existing Library of Digital Measurement Products. 💙 📚 Researchers and digital product developers can use this free, interactive library to search for sensor-based digital health technologies (sDHTs), measures, and meaningful concepts of physical activity (PA), Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), and - now - PD. 🚀 There is growing recognition of the importance of digital measures in PD, leading to increased efforts to close the gap and harness the potential of digital innovation in managing the condition. By using the Library of Digital Measures Products, you can help advance the field and provide innovative care for patients with PD. 🤝 We are immensely grateful for the contribution and support from MJFF and CPP, and we are deeply honored to contribute to accelerating and advancing PD research together to advance the field. 💡 Using the library and collaborating with DATAcc to contribute will give you the support you need to advance your digital health strategies and resources. 🔗 Access the updated library here: https://bit.ly/43Fh3wE #ABCsofPD

World Parkinson's Day is today, and April is Parkinson's Awareness Month! For several years, I was a full-time caregiver to my father, who suffered from Parkinson's. Here are a few of my takeaways from this experience: You don't use it, you lose it. I try to walk at least 10,000 steps every day! Why... because staying active is essential for my well-being, and not everyone can be active. Stay positive and never give up. As hard as it was, being positive and being present with my parents was critical to helping them and for my mental health. Have compassion and patience. Parkinson's affects everyone differently, and there isn't one size that fits all. Parkinson's Disease is the second most common neurodegenerative condition after Alzheimer's. There are around 90,000 new cases of PD in the U.S. every year, and over 8.5 million people worldwide live with PD. LET'S FIND A CURE!!! #helpspreadawareness #parkinsons #helpfindacure
