These interactions include the microbiome, which exists on every external surface of the body, and the resulting information is processed and utilized in a coordinated manner. Our center will develop novel research techniques to understand the interactions between multiple organs and the microbiome and develop methods to apply quantum computing to human biology. Our mission is to forge a new interdisciplinary research area that will lead to groundbreaking progress in elucidating the regulatory mechanisms sustaining human health. In the long term, we will develop new prophylactic/therapeutic approaches to promote healthy longevity. Keio University Human Biology-Microbiome-Quantum Research Center (hereinafter referred to as WPI-Bio2Q) is offering a research internship opportunity as part of STaMP, a joint cross-disciplinary graduate English program for students interested in entering one of Keio’s master's or doctoral programs in a WPI-related field, and invites applications for research internship students.

For those interested to come as undergraduate research interns in summer 2025 in IVU lab under my supervision (https://lnkd.in/d2Bx-Y5u). I have two projects looking for interns through GRI Mitacs program. They will be helping my students on these projects with tasks related to preparing datasets and evaluating models. Project 1: Multi-modal LLMs for Video Question Answering. We are building enhanced video question answering models that rely on multi-modal large-language models, e.g., ChatGPT, with special focus on complex reasoning tasks. Project 2: Endoscopy Video Segmentation. This project is focused on adapting foundational models for pixel-level image understand (i.e., image segmentation) to operate on endoscopy video segmentation.
