These technologies enable real-time tracking of cargo, automated handling, and improved resource management. Staying updated with the latest technological advancements and understanding their applications is crucial for a Port Operations Manager to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge. Another emerging trend in port operations is the focus on sustainability. Ports are increasingly adopting green practices to reduce their environmental footprint. This includes initiatives such as shore power, which allows ships to turn off their engines while docked and use electricity from the port, reducing emissions.
