#MySDGFocusWithSSETS for week 4 #SSETS task.
The top 4 UN SDGs aligned to my projects.
My four weeks experience with #SSETS has been mind blowing. My area of research is waste water treatment, environmental safety and energy preservation. I’m currently working on the provision of potable water to rural communities in Niger Delta and the treatment of prodce water using cocus Nucifera for safe disposal and environmental safety.
Some SDGs that my project aligns with are:
SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
The effect of waste and untreated produced water to the environment overwhelming. The disposal of untreated water to the environment has caused the living bodies more harm than good. Therefore, treating such in line with international standard before disposal will safe life and protect the environment. This project seeks to unravel the best method of using costless agrobased local waste to treat produce water, campare and recommend. We are currently on the project of providing clean potable water to communities in Niger Delta, especially in Ogoni where all water bodies have been compromised.
SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing
The effect of consuming contaminated water on health is detrimental. The wellbeing of all living things and the protection of human race must be taken seriously. Hence the need to protect our health vis-à-vis the protection of our environment. This project is geared toward taking deliberate steps at avoiding health issues propelled by unsanitized environment, consumption of contaminated water, and the need for the availability of clean potable water.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The consistent consumption of water contaminated with pollutants such as benzen from oil drilling activities posses high risk of cancer to community health and the consistent intake will definitely affect health which might send communities to extinction at the long run. This is the reason why we go to the locals with messages of “CLEAN AND GREEN” alongside “GOOD WATER IS SAFE HEALTH “. It is only when people lives that communities can be protected and sustained.
SDG 13: Climate Change.
Today, the unprofessional activities oil companies and human activities have contributed to the ills of the environment. The climate change that is affecting the entire globe today is necessitated by human hazardous activities such as the disposal of untreated produced water containing heavy metals such as Arsenic, Nickel, Lead and chromium.
