From breaking barriers in education and entrepreneurship to making strides in politics and STEM, Pakistani women are showcasing resilience, talent, and leadership. 🎓 Education: Education is a powerful catalyst for change. Initiatives like the Malala Fund and various local scholarships are ensuring that more girls have access to quality education, paving the way for an empowered future generation. 💼 Entrepreneurship: Women-led startups and enterprises are thriving. Platforms like SheMeansBusiness by Facebook and various incubators are providing the necessary support, mentorship, and resources for women to turn their innovative ideas into successful businesses. 🏛️ Politics: Women in politics are making significant contributions, advocating for policies that support gender equality and social justice. The increasing representation of women in government is a testament to their growing influence and determination to drive change. 🔬 STEM: Pakistani women are excelling in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Initiatives such as CodeGirls and WomenInTechPK are crucial in providing opportunities and breaking the glass ceiling in these traditionally male-dominated fields. 🌍 Community Support: Grassroots movements and NGOs are playing a vital role in empowering women at the community level. Organizations like Aurat Foundation and UN Women Pakistan are working tirelessly to address issues such as gender-based violence, legal rights, and economic empowerment. 🚀 The Road Ahead: The journey towards gender equality is ongoing, but the progress is undeniable. Every step taken by these trailblazing women and supportive allies brings us closer to a future where every woman in Pakistan has the freedom and opportunity to pursue her dreams. Celebrating Women's Empowerment in Pakistan: A Journey of Resilience and Progress In Pakistan, the journey towards women's empowerment is marked by resilience, courage, and significant progress. As we continue to strive for a more inclusive and equitable society, it's important to acknowledge the remarkable achievements and ongoing efforts that are paving the way for a brighter future for women in our country. From the inspiring stories of female entrepreneurs who are breaking barriers and leading successful businesses, to the relentless efforts of women advocating for education, healthcare, and social justice, Pakistani women are making their mark in every field. Their contributions are not only transforming their own lives but are also driving positive change in their communities and the nation as a whole. Key areas of progress include: Education:Increasing access to education for girls has been a game-changer. Educated women are empowered to make informed decisions, pursue careers, and contribute to the economy. Economic Participation:More women are entering the workforce and taking on leadership roles, thanks to supportive policies and initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality in the workplace. -Healthcare: Improved healthcare services and awareness programs are ensuring that women have access to the care they need, leading to better health outcomes for themselves and their families. Legal Reforms: Advocacy and legal reforms are protecting women's rights and ensuring justice for victims of violence and discrimination. However, the journey is far from over. We must continue to support and invest in initiatives that empower women, challenge societal norms that hinder their progress, and create an environment where every woman can thrive. Let's celebrate the achievements of Pakistani women and commit to fostering an inclusive society where their dreams and aspirations are not just recognized but realized. Together, we can build a future where women’s empowerment is not just a goal, but a reality for all. Engr. Great session about Social Behavior Theory and how it can enhance the work that we do
🤔 How might we shift hearts and minds to create Decent Work opportunities for young women in the Middle East and Africa? Yesterday, we had a great session in Creative Valley exploring how #SocialBehaviourChange can strengthen Challenge Fund for Youth Employment interventions to attract, select, and retain young talent, specifically young #women. Colleagues from Palladium: Make It Possible, Randstad and VSO Nederland were invited to: 🧠 explore three SBC strategies 🧩 apply them to design challenges faced by CFYE implementing partners 🎭 pitch their solution back to the group in a creative and visual way … and there were prizes #gamification 📨 We're curious - where have you seen behaviour change techniques applied in the workplace to facilitate positive change?

🌟 Grateful for the Insights from Naila Kabeer's Talk at SOAS! 🌟 I had the honour of attending a profoundly enlightening talk by Professor Naila Kabeer at SOAS, organised by the How Women Work group. Their dedicated efforts to establish a community that empowers women in academic spaces, coupled with a focus on development discourses, signify a pivotal stride toward fostering inclusivity and diversity. A standout initiative highlighted during the talk is the fundraising campaign for Sister Library, Asia’s first feminist library based in Mumbai. Witnessing the impact of this community-driven project at the grassroots level is inspiring, as it endeavours to improve learning opportunities for girls from less privileged backgrounds. Professor Kabeer's research delved into the intricate dynamics of female workforce participation in Bangladesh, unveiling the profound influence of patriarchal norms, societal expectations, and cultural nuances on women's career choices. The exploration of the intersectionality of marriage and workforce participation shed light on how cultural expectations significantly impact women at pivotal life stages. Furthermore, Professor Kabeer provided insights into the role of the hijab in concealing the identities of working women, especially in conservative cultural settings. This strategic use of the hijab allows women to navigate societal norms discreetly, pursuing employment without potential judgment. One compelling question that arises from these discussions is: How can we collectively challenge patriarchal norms in our everyday interactions and professional settings, creating spaces where women's contributions are not only valued but also recognised? Let's continue these vital conversations, share what we have learned, and actively contribute to the positive changes we aspire to see in the world. Together, we can build a more inclusive and empowering future. 🌍💪 #HowWomenWork #SisterLibraryFundraiser #GenderEquality #Empowerment #InclusivityInAcademia #NailaKabeerTalk
