THE VOLUNTEER series (I)
Hello LinkedIn Fam, Happy New week.
This topic is going to be in series, running for the next one week and I strongly believe you will learn from the series.
🎯 Who is a Volunteer?
Merriam Webster dictionary defines a #Volunteer as someone who does something WILLINGLY without being FORCED or paid to do that thing.
I have come across many people who carry the 'Volunteer' title, and as an observant person, I have seen some unapplaudable traits I'd love to share in this post.
The truth is that some #volunteers may not see these traits as bad. Peradventure you are a culprit of any of these traits, don't be offended. Rather, take the lessons and intentionally work on yourself to be a TRUE AND GENUINE VOLUNTEER.
1️⃣ MURMURS AND COMPLAINTS: many #volunteers make complaints about the organization they work for. They almost see something wrong with everything and don't hide their displeasure AT ALL.
Dear #Volunteer, every Organization started from the lowest step of the ladder. Some started with just 5 people, or even less. The fact that you have worked with another organization where you are treated to a banquet after every meeting does not render the new, young organization you just joined less worthy.
Yeah, you might see some lapses and in all honesty, you strongly believe they could or can do better. Rather than complaining, showing apathy towards the assignment given to you, or even more, instigating other #volunteers to speak ill of the organisation; talk to a leader in the organisation, POLITELY sharing your suggestions and ideas.
Lesson learnt?
I would love to hear from you (in the comments section) about some ill traits you've observed in some volunteers and how you think they can do better.
Remember, the series continues tomorrow. Happy Volunteering.
