LIGHT MATTER INTERACTION IN OPTICS SPACE

Check out our latest preprint on arXiv: https://lnkd.in/dzwFjWq6 "Synthetic Light-in-Flight" Authors: Patrick Cornwall, Manuel Ballester, Stefan Forschner, Muralidhar Madabhushi, Aggelos Katsaggelos, Florian Willomitzer We present a novel computational approach to visualize "Light-in-Flight" (LiF), only requiring continuous-wave (CW) lasers and off-the-shelf CMOS cameras. We computationally create short "synthetic light pulses" from multiple "synthetic wave measurements" of the scene. These pulses are computationally advanced to visualize the light pulse distribution in a volumetric scene or a scattering medium. Moreover, the acquired pulse fronts can be freely shaped in space and time after their acquisition to maximize the decoded information output for each scene.

A retroreflector is an optical device designed to reflect light back toward its source with minimal scattering. Unlike mirrors, lenses, or prisms that disperse or refract light in various directions, retroreflectors ensure that incoming light is directed back to its origin. This reflection takes place along the same path as the incident light, but in the completely opposite direction.
