**ECO LUMBER FENCE POSTS** ♻️ Another popular product we make from recycled plastic waste is our Eco Fence Posts. These have several advantages over fence posts made from wood as they are stronger, more durable, cheaper and more environmentally friendly ✅ Furthermore, as they are made by Eco Brixs, you know all the plastic waste used in their production has been purchased from the community. This means every fence post sold has a positive impact on the environment and local economy 👍🏿 #circulareconomy #climateaction #climatecrisis #uganda #Sustainablefuture #Circularity #beatplasticpollution #Sustainability #Education #Environment #inclusion #circulareconomy #disability #uganda #Plasticpollution #recycledplastic #closedloop #BusinessForGood #environmentalimpact #economicimpact #socialimpact #innovation #greenproducts #founders #reuse #addvalue #ecoproducts #fenceposts #lumber #ecofenceposts #localbusiness

"Plastic has become ubiquitous in our daily lives thanks to its convenience and low prices. But it comes with a cost. Our mistreatment and mismanagement of the material have made it one of the biggest environmental problems of our lifetime. Millions of tons of plastic waste are dumped every year, a majority of which makes its way into the oceans, harming wildlife and ecosystems in the process. Yet 91% of all plastic that has ever been made is not recycled. With negotiations for a global plastic treaty in full swing, we take a look at some shocking plastic pollution statistics, and why it is crucial to take action now to reduce our global plastic consumption and production before it’s too late to reverse the damage." Queensland government is offering free landfill. When it rains heavily, plastic waste is washed off our streets into rivers, flowing out to the ocean. Most plastic is trapped in estuaries and coastal ecosystems, with a small fraction ending up offshore in the high seas. In the coastal ocean, waves and tides break down plastic waste into smaller and smaller bits. These micro and nanoplastics linger in the environment indefinitely, impacting the health of marine creatures from microorganisms all the way up to seabirds and whales, which mistake them for food. When we look at the scale of the problem of microplastics (smaller than 5mm) and nanoplastics (defined as 1 micrometer or less), we find something alarming. Our new research shows the shallow embayment of Moreton Bay, off Brisbane in Southeast Queensland now has roughly 7,000 tonnes of accumulated microplastics, the same as 700 million half-litre plastic bottles. Today, Freepoint Eco-Systems honors World Oceans Day. The world generates 400 million metric tons of plastic waste per year, and much of it ends up in our oceans and waterways. Each year, coastal nations and their communities are faced with growing volumes of waste imports and plastics washed ashore. Freepoint Eco-Systems is committed to turning the tides on ocean pollution by capturing oceanbound plastics into a closed-loop lifecycle, preventing microplastics, protecting marine life, and driving the recycled material market for regions overcome by waste. #worldoceansday #advancedrecycling #oceanpollution #closedloopplastics

Plastic pollution has reached alarming levels, posing a threat to #ecosystems, wildlife, and human well-being. From plastic bags and bottles to microplastics and packaging materials, the widespread use of plastic in our daily lives has led to widespread #environmentaldegradation and #ecologicalharm. #PlasticWaste not only litters our landscapes and pollutes our oceans but also infiltrates our food chain, posing potential risks to #humanhealth. Plastic recycling in the UK faces even greater challenges than you might think. In addition to alarming data about the export and incineration of plastic waste, studies show that the global recycling system heavily relies on a complicated and often obscure logistical chain. 😬 According to the Plastic Pollution Coalition, many plastic-exporting countries, like the UK, are facing international criticism for sending large amounts of plastic waste to countries with inadequate recycling infrastructure. This results in high pollution levels, both in the oceans and on land. Some nations are implementing strict policies to reduce dependence on flexible plastic. One example is Norway, which has developed a highly efficient deposit system for plastic bottles, achieving up to a 97% recycling rate. Change starts with conscious choices in our daily lives. Heading to Glastonbury? Then don’t forget the site’s mantra of: “love the farm, leave no trace.” This comes after the amount of rubbish routinely left behind at Worthy Farm reached epic proportions. However, things do seem to now be improving. According to the European Cleaning Journal, since 2019 almost 99% of all tents are now taken home, while 50% of all waste created by the festival is reused or recycled. After the 2019 festival, more than 68 tonnes of paper, 38 tonnes of glass, 57 tonnes of cans and 17 tonnes of plastic bottles were recycled. In the same year, more than 149 tonnes of food waste went to compost, while 14,000 litres of cooking oil was turned into biofuel. Today, we came together as a Take Action Global Climate Action Program Special Interest Group to focus on key areas in our climate action work: Food Waste, Reduction, Composting, and Recycling. As we discussed, tackling plastic pollution is crucial. Over the past 70 years, plastic production has surged from 2 million tonnes to over 450 million tons annually. 1 to 2 million tons of plastic enter our oceans each year, threatening ecosystems and wildlife. Most of this waste originates in middle-income countries with inadequate waste management infrastructure. The solution? Better waste management—and that includes our efforts in reducing food waste, composting, and recycling. Together, these efforts can help reduce ocean plastic pollution and mitigate the environmental impact. Let’s keep pushing for change! 📊 Explore more data and insights on plastic and waste management. https://lnkd.in/g-Yxbr-5 #ClimateAction #PlasticPollution #FoodWasteReduction #Composting #Recycling #Sustainability #EnvironmentalProtection #CircularEconomy #SDGs Lindsay Zilly Jennifer Williams, EdD Riley Justis, Ph.D. Koen Timmers, FRSA Dave Potter Kayla Henn
