We will never know what people's fate will be in the future. What will that person become, where will they work, what will they meet in the future? No one knows. All this time, I believed that. So, I always treat my friends as equals. — Monday night, before going to work, there was a WhatsApp chat from my old friend, Adi Bima Sanjaya. We were friends when we studied Mechanical Engineering. Not long after, we met at a cafe in the Kota Wisata area, Ciangsana, Bogor. There were many stories when we met, there were many ups and downs, there were moments when it was challenging to find the title of the thesis, worried about being late in completing it, etc. Bima experienced this to the point where he told me that if he didn't pass the 9th semester, he had to pay for the 10th semester himself. So, I tried to help by suggesting go to the machine design specialisation lab and take on the lecturer's project. Luckily, he was able to graduate in the 9th semester. Timeskip, I didn't expect him to be persistent enough to pursue his dream of becoming a welding engineer. After graduating, he immediately looked for work related to welding, even though it was a contract and for little money. When he had saved enough salary, then immediately get the welding inspector certification and continue working again. He focus on the grinding experience. Finally, he was recruited at the Pertamina Refinery Unit Kalimantan. I'm happy to hear that. He told me that consistency is essential in any case. In his case, he carried out a career journey as a welding engineer for five years until he reached his current point. For five years, he was also confident that he could work at Pertamina. In short, from him, I learned that if we are not sure what we want. We don't deserve that now. Belief is a form of projection of the future. Job Hopping ; Meeting Challenges : (1) Have you realized why some Professionals have failed many job interview sessions?  (2) Irrelevant genuine hands on working experiences : As a Chemical Engineer or a Mechanical Engineer with 5 years of working experiences in Food Industry might be tougher for you to join Oil & Gas Big Corporations. You may ask yourself the following questions : (1) Have you worked before with big machines such as pumps, compressors, steam turbines, gas turbines, turbo expanders, refrigerant compressors, furnaces, reactors, boilers, water treatment system, water water treatment system?  (2) Have you involved with trouble shooting of  big machines on process or mechanical parts?  (3) Do you have confidence in giving instructions to your highly experienced Technicians with 10 - 30 years of plant experiences?  (4) You might be a Senior Executive or a Manager in your current company, but the new company might just offer you a position as a Junior Executive only.  (5) Your current position might be a permanent one, but the new company might offer you a contract position.  (6) During your probation of 6 months with  the new company, you have to perform or else you might be terminated subsequently.  (7) You might be shocked with a different working culture with very stringent KPI of the new company as compared to your previous company.  (8) You might be struggling with new tools and system with the new company that might hinder your performance.  (9) You might be reporting to a very toxic Boss in the new company.  (10) You might be far away from your husband and kids, for instance working in Pengerang, Johor while your family is in Terengganu. Logistic and accommodation matters may distract you.  (11) You might get a salary which is double of your previous company, but of course your responsibilities and accountabilities would be double as well.  (12) You have to decide whether your first  priority is career or family. After a few months, he resigned due to performance issues.  1 Highly Experienced Chemical Engineer in Kerteh Plant resigned due to performance issue after being ranked as under performer as a result of changing portfolio.  1 Senior Manager in Pengerang Plant was terminated due to performance issue during probation period of 6 months.  2 Executives of Pengerang Plant were terminated due to performance issues.  1 Senior Executive of Pengerang Plant was terminated due to disciplinary issues. 1 Senior General Manager of Pengerang Plant was terminated due to disciplinary issues.  So prior to any of job hopping, analyze thoroughly, reach out Senior Professionals and Wise Guys for advices.

Essential practice for working in a chemical plant of course SAFETY. "Safety first. Yosh!" we shout this out loud at the end of our daily morning meeting. Working in a chemical plant requires a very high degree of caution due to the potential hazards involved. Despite common practices for instance wearing PPE and emergency procedures, COMMUNICATION and AWARENESS is the keys while working in high-risk places. If you notice any safety hazards, report them to your supervisor immediately. If you're unsure about anything, don't hesitate to ask for clarification. Be wary of your surroundings and potential hazards. You can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and injuries while working in a chemical plant. Remember, safety is paramount in this industry.
