Today I’ve seen so many headlines announcing that we are about to breach the 7th of 9 planetary boundaries - the safe operating limits of earth’s systems that enable us to thrive. So the timing of Jane Davidson and team’s “Pathways to a prosperous and resilient Wales in a changing future” is serendipitious. It helps as a blueprint for what has been done, what still needs to be done, and the serious pitfalls we need to be careful not to head towards, as a result of inaction or incorrect action. Wales has been leading the way in enshrining the safeguarding into future generations into law. While this is an inspiring initiative, this updated report is refreshingly honest around the complexity of putting this into action. It acknowledges the challenge and yet inspires and galvanises towards more action and collaboration, with a vision of hope. My key take-aways are: 👩🎓 We don’t just need law - we need to incentivise and actively push the agenda forward.  🐾 We also can’t have an easy one-solution fits all, when we understand the range of circumstances and needs across different communities.  👭 We must involve citizens in the application and implementation, to make it relevant and meaningful.  ▶ Businesses need to play their role in accelerating this change.  🚦 We are at a crossroads, whereby we can choose to: - Collaborate to co-create a future that is exciting for us, or  - Continue to ignore the signs, and at best work in silos, and accelerate the significant disruptions as a result of our planetary boundaries being irreversibly breached. https://lnkd.in/eduz9SSv –  I’m Liv Sibony, co-founder of Impact Amplified with Layla Wildon.
