🌍🚀 Revolutionizing construction and real estate for a circular future🚀🌍 "We've been building the same way for 150 years" - a client shared during an introductory meeting about zupply platform. "While we've become experts at designing and constructing quickly, the new demand is to build differently." 🛠️🔄 In today's world, consultants and architects are increasingly asked not just to build, but to rebuild, repurpose, and renew what already exists. The challenge? Doing so efficiently and profitably under the principles of the circular economy and resource efficiency. 👷♂️🌱 At zupply, we recognize that the shift from 'build new' to 'renew and reuse' isn't just a trend—it's a necessity. Our client's words resonate deeply as they reflect a widespread industry challenge: How do we maintain business competitiveness while adopting sustainable and circular practices? That's where our platform steps in. zupply is designed to drastically reduce the time spent on adapting existing buildings to new uses, making circularity a viable business strategy. We are here to ensure that circularity in construction isn't just possible but also profitable. If you're involved in building or consulting and feel the pressure of these new demands, we need to talk. Our tools are tailored to make your transition to circular building practices smoother and more efficient. Let's build a future where circular economy, sustainability and profitability go hand in hand. 🌐💼 📣 Are you ready for the shift? Connect with us. Sustainability is a buzzword that has become increasingly ubiquitous in the architecture and construction industry over the past few decades. Companies are touting their materials, projects, and initiatives as "sustainable," but behind the marketing, one must ask: is sustainability truly a core reality, or is it a convenient label for branding? #Sustainability

📢 Accelerating Circular Construction Round Table / FactoryX - 3rd July - Bristol, UK 📢 The construction and built environment sectors need to shift - and radically - away from an outdated, linear model, where resources, performance and resilience are not universal priorities. As a consultant, I enjoy a good framework and unpacking how it might apply to the projects and people I work with (context/scale). BUT I also experience overwhelm at the absolute abundance of guides - often lacking the detail for meaningful interpretation between contexts. So, while I am excited to get stuck into the new RIBA Climate Guide by Mina Hasman - I believe we need these resources to be backed up by regional (central, accessible) built environment hubs. I envisage a multi-stakeholder cooperative of existing and emerging organisations that demonstrate and facilitate this radical shift. FactoryX is a new kind of systems-led show and do facility. Connecting; materials exchange and remanufacturing; a show park for the diverse building typologies addressing the industries core challenges; training/education facilities (for use by local groups and institutions); and a conference/visitors centre. The possibilities for these spaces are huge - but ultimately we want buy-in on those 'new operating models'. If one of the biggest barriers is getting the industry to interact with those frameworks and models, then we need to make them physical, exciting, and very obviously better. On July 3rd Materials in Mind is hosting the inaugural *Accelerating Circular Construction Round Table* event in central Bristol. With an brilliant line-up of speakers, table hosts and case studies, we'll be focusing on the factors that have shaped circular and regenerative solutions across the UK. Understanding the contexts and mechanisms behind the scenes is key to replicating/adapting solutions successfully, with a goal of drawing out blueprints for adoption. We are calling out for developers, clients, engineers, contractors, consultants and designers to join the discussion. #acceleratetozero #circularconstructionhub #factoryx #constructionroundtable #thinktank #lowcarbonlogistics #reusenow #circulareconomy #failforward #adaptation and #resilience Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Excess Materials Exchange, Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP), The Rebuild Site, ALDStone, Bristol Waste Company, Bristol City Council, Goram Homes, Housing Festival , Jan Kattein, Global Generation, British Land, Sir Robert McAlpine, UK Green Building Council (UKGBC), Considerate Constructors Scheme, ACAN!, Built Environment - Smarter Transformation, University of Bristol, University of the West of England, University of Bath, Bath Spa University, The Studio in Bath, Bristol Digital Futures Institute, Retrofit West CIC, The Green Register, Building Growth South West

Eco-design is a necessary approach to ensure our sustainable transition, and more and more manufacturers are adopting it. But behind the label "Eco-designed," what does it actually mean? For instance, take a manufacturer of building materials like Saint-Gobain, does an eco-design approach mean that the glass composition has been altered to include more recycled materials and reduce energy-intensive processes? And where should we draw the line to meet customer needs and ensure the product remains appealing? These are the kinds of questions Marie Dufour considered when developing the "Eco-design" course for the Climate School, aimed at companies, six months ago. What she discovered is that there are complex and multifaceted realities behind this term: design and production choices must truly reduce our environmental footprint; it is crucial to ensure that eco-design efforts do not turn into mere marketing claims; we must verify that the gains achieved are not canceled out by overconsumption… and much more. We invite you to explore all this in this new course, which offers tools to understand and manage trade-offs, insights into how to integrate eco-design into a global approach, and practical case studies shared by manufacturers and experts in the field. A big thank you to everyone who made this course possible: Helene Teulon, Emmanuelle KOBIALKA, Xavier Vital, Dariusz Krzysztof GĄSIOREK, Stefan Koenig, Olivier Ledru, Claire Bottineau, Christophe Lelyon,Véronique Andriès, Alice Fruchart, Victor Beauchef, Florence Baitinger and of course, Pascal EVEILLARD for his insights on the importance of having a dedicated project manager to achieve an eco-designed production.

Transforming Industrial Sustainability: A Marou Chocolate factory story. RoofCare has produced a video (in Vietnamese) highlighting on RoofCare achievement in sustainable industrial design, successfully retrofitting of the Marou Chocolate factory’s old, worn-out roof which will enhanced both environmental performance and operational efficiency. RoofCare has transformed the factory’s energy profile by improving the thermal insulation to lower energy costs and to reduce carbon footprint. This revitalization is align with Marou’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, quality and also a more comfortable and productive working environment. This project shows how retrofitting can drive forward sustainable practices starting with the Investor, Designers and RoofCare by setting a new benchmark for the industry. Retrofit to reduce carbon footprint towards Net Zero target!

The latest findings from the 2024 Design and Make report showed that 69% of construction and design leaders see sustainability as pivotal for short-term success—a significant leap from last year. Moreover, 87% of the respondents agree that it has long-term benefits for business. We're past the point where sustainability initiatives were just a bonus and reputation enhancers to better align with customers. They're a strategic move towards reducing operating costs and ensuring our businesses are future-proof. Kim Dabbs of Steelcase said it best: "Embracing sustainability isn't a trade-off but a long-term investment. One that will not only pay dividends in terms of the planet and people but will also be profitable." https://lnkd.in/e-8WXhDk
