Really pleased to participate yesterday in the launch at the Houses of Parliament of this report by the 3Ci (Cities Commission for Climate Investment) Net Zero Investment Taskforce, which drew on views across investors, local authorities, NGOs and retrofit experts to prepare a set of recommendations on how to finance and deliver neighbourhood-based decarbonisation. Key conclusions include the need to - take a place-based approach, shaping the interventions to suit the needs and priorities of communities - get started with retrofit demonstrators to generate practical insights and experience, moving from theory to practice - convene a UK-wide conversation to hone practical efforts into a national strategy - build a wider enabling environment in policy, regulation, supply chain and financing The report's concept of the "Net Zero Neighbourhood" (NZN) dovetails well with work on place-based impact investment being done by the Impact Investing Institute, which participated in the Taskforce. Expect to hear more about the NZN model. #netzero #impactinvesting #placemaking #greenfinance Core Cities UK London Councils Connected Places Catapult Scottish Cities Alliance Key Cities UKRI - Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC) Innovate UK Alex Massie Chris Murray Mariana Berganton Nicole Shamier Prof Greg Clark CBE FAcSS Download the report at: https://lnkd.in/eYNy7VKn

This document was developed to highlight the investment opportunities presented by the North West’s drive to achieve net zero emissions by 2040 across the region's industries, communities, and built environment. The significant decarbonisation effort required cannot be overstated, but we illustrate that this can be achieved through the pursuit of 3 objectives. What makes us different ? 🍏 🍎 3Ci (Cities Commission for Climate Investment), distinguishes itself through its unique collaboration between local government and the investment community. Its mission focuses on securing long-term financing to achieve net zero carbon emissions. 🏙 What sets 3Ci apart is its place-based approach, leveraging the combined scale of cities and regions to mobilise investment for low and net zero carbon projects. This strategy aims to create larger, more attractive opportunities for private investors, addressing the urgent need for sustainable transformation across homes, businesses, and infrastructure. 💬 As Keith Bottomley CC attests, "We understand that by uniting the power of cities and regions, we can mobilise finance and drive investments into low and net-zero carbon projects collectively, ensuring a sustainable future for all."
