Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that social media platform X was banned for national security reasons, not to limit free expression. The interior ministry revealed the ban, imposed in February, citing intelligence reports. Attaullah Tarar emphasized that terrorists misused X for anti-state activities. He called for a regulatory system for social media and mentioned a proposed Digital Rights Protection Authority to address these issues. Excellent article by Matthew Charles in today's The Telegraph. Ecuador is experiencing a very hard edged crackdown on gang violence and control. Writing about one gang, Los Tigres, he writes that "a key milestone for a Los Tigres gangster is to be given a 'placa', a form of registration plate tattooed on the body... a combination of letters and numbers, often a gangster's initials and their date of birth." "A placa is a symbol of power. It has to be earned. With it comes respect" One gangster, 'Juan' explains that, despite the bombs and killings, "Los Tigres are a family." At the site of the works, rescuers of the State Emergency Service dismantled 76 tons of construction structures. As a #result of yesterday's Russian #shelling, 14 people died and 44 people were injured. Out of 8 unidentified bodies, police forensics identified 5: three women and two #children - girls born in 2012 and 2014. It remains to identify 3 #people.
