EdTech is fake ‼️ Let's see how.... EdTech as a business is a fake module. Recently I was studying about Upgrad and its business. The research got my mind blown 😨 The company is drastically increasing their revenue year per year. In the year 2023, their annual revenue was Rs.1,194 cr. but at the same time their net loss was 1,114 cr. This shows the market has revenue building opportunities, but they are not at all profitable. P.S: Comment your views on this industry 👇 📌Are facing difficulties in growing your brand on LinkedIn. DM "Elevate" I'll help you in this. #edtech #education #business #contentcreation

Yet another giant bites the dust... This recent event underscores a fundamental truth: human interaction is crucial in the learning process, for both children and adults. While technology can enhance education, it cannot replace the human touch. Technology must be an enabler, not the solution. In the quest to build a successful venture, terms like "scale" and "numbers" often push us toward tech-heavy solutions. But the real key -- is striking the right balance between automation and human interaction. As the founder of an educational venture (which I prefer not to label as "edutech"), I firmly believe that our classes should not be mere content delivery sessions. They must be dynamic interactions between students and teachers, fostering engagement and deeper understanding. I am sure that Unacademy has been a significant source of inspiration for many early-stage, innovative education ventures like STEMonsters Education. This post serves as a reminder: as we grow and scale our ventures, let's not lose sight of the non-negotiable human element that makes learning truly effective. EdTech's Shift to Hybrid Models: Insights from Veranda Learning In an article by Ms. Uma Kannan in the The New Indian Express titled Edtech: Focus Shifts to Offline Mode, Mr. Suresh Kalpathi, our Executive Director and Chairman, shared insights into the evolving education landscape post-Covid. He emphasized that the sector’s transformation reflects broader industry dynamics, with a growing focus on sustainable models that prioritize quality and adaptability. Mr. Kalpathi highlighted that while online education saw an unprecedented rise during the pandemic, offline learning remains a critical element of the educational experience. Rather than diminishing the value of online learning, the shift to offline complements it. The hybrid model – blending the flexibility of online learning with the personal engagement of offline interactions – offers a well-rounded educational experience that meets the diverse needs of students. This balance not only enhances learning but also paves the way for a promising future in the education sector. We are excited to continue shaping the future of education through innovative solutions that cater to the evolving demands of learners worldwide. #EdTech #HybridLearning #VerandaLearning #FutureOfEducation #EducationTransformation #InnovationInEducation #OnlineLearning #OfflineLearning https://lnkd.in/gpVUSdHy

A lot of Edtech startups and courses are good. But there are equally same number or even more Edtech companies/courses or cohorts that are playing with candidate's money, fear, aspirations and life. They can do this because there is no regulation in India for small courses/cohorts/programs which charge 10k-10 lakhs from students. Do you want to talk about your experience about a course/cohort ? Do you want to rant like Arnab Goswami because you have been cheated ? Pol kholna hai koi so called 'educator' ka ? Has anyone promised you a seat in FAANG and taken money ? Has anyone promised you an interview call or placement and taken 2 lakhs ? Has anyone promised you that by taking his/her coaching you can break into product management but you didn't get any support ? To bring about a transparency in Edtech I have thought of creating a platform (in my free time) so that people don't get duped by the numerous 'educators'. Since I come from a family of teachers I thought of doing so. It is not a company or a startup or a profit making business. It is just an initiative to clean up 'Edtech' in India. We will spend a couple of hours weekly on this. If you are willing to join me in this revolution especially product manager or developer or designer, you can ping me. But there will be no money in it. Neither for me nor for you. It is just a 'cleanup' initiative for better education. Any money we make (if any) will be used to better our platform, reward those who contribute, server costs or fighting legal battles 😜 Also feel free to share with me any experience you have with any courses starting from say GrowthSchool to Scaler to any PM or DSA courses. Once the platform is ready your voice will not be unheard and you can make a difference in some student's life. No experience if genuine will be taken off the platform because I will not listen or care about legal threats. Instead there will be a Hall of Shame for them. However if any course or program is good and has transformed someone's life we will promote them. It will be built by you and by your experience only. If you don't speak up I will shut it down. p.s: Those who want to contribute to this open project please DM me your WhatsApp nos. We will touchbase on weekends to build this. #edtech #education #productmanagement #productmanager #productmanagers #engineering #engineer #engineers #development #design #faang #hiring #developers #designers

This is worrying --- edtech has become a money spinning business . While profitability and thin margin concerns remain----Such EdTech dont think twice before whizzing out money on high end advertisements or chasing IPL sponsorships ,Giving 1 cr cheques to star faculties who add little value. MrArun Sharma courses being on such example ---never moved beyond percentages Many Of the unacademy's Best CAT faculties have either left and started their own ventures or joined the legacy brands like TIME ,IMS etc . The standard model remain same . Offer free youtube classes , once a big crowd gathers ..ask them for subscriptions. In those 1 hour lecture ..hardly you find 6-7 questions solved ..lot of times it is just useless talks . Then comes the CAT slots live reaction some best ones I have seen contributing to this space like Rodha Educational Solutions Pvt Ltd ..very rare to see building a community for from high quality rigorous stuffs . Then another gem is Elites Grid. Hunny malhotra and his team doing a good job in Quants and LRDI . Not to mention geometry by Amiya Kumar sir who have taught high level questions with genuine interest #Edtechcrisis #indianstartup

Hello :) So finally my 55,000 worth course from upGrad is over.I have completed the 8 months course and have received the certification in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Now comes the question..what next? Short flashback- I started the course with high hopes and sure I have gained some good knowledge in this field and have got some good friends. There was so much chaos throughout the course with mentors. The students were deeply disappointed and were never satisfied as the results were not worth the time and money invested. The biggest disappointment was for the students who took placement for which they had to pay an extra 14,000 along with the course and nobody from my batch got placed. So my kind advice to anyone who is going to take an online course is to do research and contact someone who has previously enrolled in the same and make sure it's worth it. Most of these Ed tech companies are only surviving because of the digital marketing and the group of team who is constantly canvassing the students. The placement promises were just marketing tactics and were only on the broucher not in real-life. At the end of the day the mentors have work pressure and this might be the only way they can survive. As Conor McGregor said "it was all business not personal" So the truth is no one is coming to save you. Save yourself👍. (DS&A+AIML 6512,7933) Most of the readers will find that your good 2 minutes is wasted but a few will be able to save their hard earned money or parents money and invest it in someplace useful. If anyone from any other batches or any other edtech companies had the same flashbacks comment your experience.. it'll be helpful for a lot of students. #upgrad #artificiaintelligence #ai #ml #aiml #machinelearning #upGrad #upgradcampus #students #placements #jobseeking #goldengateuniversity #jobs #onlinecourse

#foodforthought https://lnkd.in/d7gch8xX & here I just got another urgent notification from a big-name competitive exam coaching center—apparently, I need to “kick-start my prep journey.” Now, I’m in late 20s and fully immersed in my professional world but hey, maybe I missed my true calling as a 16-year-old exam aspirant? 🤔 Meanwhile… this very coaching giant recently reported a jaw-dropping net loss of INR 1,131.2 Cr for FY24. Yes, you read that right—13.5 times their loss in FY23! It seems they’re as out of touch with their finances as they are with their target audience. Now, here’s where it gets real. I genuinely admire the Alakh Pandey (PhysicsWallah) vision and drive to create an accessible educational powerhouse in India. You’ve empowered thousands of students with the skills and confidence to ace their exams & I truly appreciate your skills but perhaps this is a reminder that even the brightest visionaries need to keep their aim steady—not just on their financial health but also on who they’re speaking to. Alakh Pandey (PhysicsWallah) With 838 people in your media and communication team, such type of mistakes are a proof that maybe something is missing and If provided a chance I can help you in correcting it. 😊 Pro Tip for All of Us: Knowing your audience is a lot cheaper than losing INR 1,000 Cr+ in a year. 🫣 Here’s hoping they refocus and reach their ideal students before the next fiscal report! #TargetAudienceMatters #Marketing101 #BusinessInsights #VisionaryFounders #ExamReadyin20s #physicswallah
PhysicsWallah revenue tops Rs 2,000 crore in FY24; loss jumps 13.5x

My Experience with an EdTech Platform Two years ago, I enrolled in the Business Analysis program by skillacademy.dehli by Testbook, lured by promises that seemed too good to ignore: Scholarship Program: They assured me that half of my fee would be refunded. Guaranteed Placement: A commitment to help secure a relevant job post-course completion. What Actually Happened? It’s been two years since I completed the program, and here’s the reality: No Scholarship Refund: Despite fulfilling all terms and conditions, they failed to refund the promised amount. Zero Placement Support: Forget "guaranteed" placements; they didn’t even provide meaningful assistance or guidance in finding a job. Unethical Behavior: When I visited their Delhi office to raise my concerns, I was met with intimidation instead of solutions. Emails to senior officials, including their HR and founder Ashutosh Kumar, were ignored. What frustrates me most is the irony of their business model: They are focused on aggressive marketing, glorifying their programs, faculty, and placement records to attract unsuspecting students. Yet, their actions reflect a lack of care for the very students who trusted them. Adding to the irony is that this is a loss-making platform, failing both its students and its business objectives. How is this a sustainable or ethical way to operate? This experience isn’t just about one platform; it reflects a deeper issue with many edtech companies today: They promise scholarships, placements, and high-quality training but fail to deliver once they’ve secured your enrollment. These platforms target ambitious individuals, especially students and working professionals, knowing they’ll invest their hard-earned money. Despite such issues being prevalent, there’s no strict regulation or government action to protect students from these exploitative practices. While the government & University Grants Commission (UGC) continues to encourage edtech platforms as a solution to India’s education challenges, there’s little accountability. Why aren’t there stringent regulations to safeguard the interests of students? Shouldn’t platforms promising placements and scholarships be held legally accountable if they fail to deliver? My experience with Skill Academy has been disappointing and disheartening. They have not only failed to keep their promises but also shown a complete disregard for the concerns of students. To everyone reading this: Have you had a similar experience with an edtech platform? What are your thoughts on this issue? #edtech #UGC
