His presentation, "From Conservation to Regeneration," revealed how destinations like Ado-Awaye and Idere Hills are more than tourist attractions - they're blueprints for sustainable development that empower local communities while preserving our natural heritage. What stood out was the emphasis on mindful tourism's multiplier effect: boosting local economies, protecting historical sites, and inspiring environmental stewardship. The energy from young Nigerian professionals eager to innovate in this space was particularly inspiring. 🌍 Harnessing Opportunities for Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba 🌿 Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba are uniquely positioned, both geographically and economically, to serve as valuable partners for the Netherlands, the EU, the UN, regional neighbors, and global stakeholders. At the request of the islands, we commissioned HCSS - The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies to explore these opportunities in the report: Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba in International Networks: Strategic Partnerships for Sustainable Development. The report highlights ongoing initiatives, such as transitioning to 100% renewable energy, promoting sustainable tourism, and actively engaging in global climate and biodiversity efforts.
