Join us to delve into the latest advancements across all major facets of the polymyxin class of antibiotics. Polymyxins are a last-line therapeutic option for treating life-threatening infections caused by Gram-negative 'superbugs,' including the WHO priority pathogens Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Since the 3rd International Conference on Polymyxins in 2018 (Madrid, Spain), significant progress has been made in the clinical use and pharmacology of polymyxins, particularly the first scientifically-based dosing recommendations, understanding the mode of action, and addressing the challenges of the resistance and toxicity. I am Glad to share our research Paper has been published in "EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR & CLINICAL MEDICINE " "HEPATOPROTECTIVE EFFECTS OF HYSSOPUS ESSENTIAL OILS AGAINST NAPROXEN SODIUM-INDUCED LIVER INJURY IN WISTAR ALBINO RATS" 🌱 **Exploring the Hepatoprotective Potential of *Hyssopus* Essential Oils** 🌱 This study explores how the powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of *Hyssopus* essential oils can potentially safeguard liver cells from damage caused by prolonged use of NSAIDs like naproxen sodium. The findings add to the growing body of evidence on the therapeutic potential of natural compounds in mitigating drug-induced liver toxicity, contributing to safer pharmaceutical practices and enhanced patient care. I would like to extend a special thanks to Shakir Sir, our corresponding author, for his invaluable contributions to this research. In today's lecture University of Brighton we covered the future of antiepileptic treatments such as STK-001 from Stoke Therapeutics which is in clinical trials and believed to be potentially the first disease modifying treatment for Dravet syndrome, and many other promising drug candidates such as TAK-935 from Takeda , JNJ-1813 from Johnson & Johnson, and XEN1101 Xenon Pharmaceuticals Inc. The RCPA has developed new resources in partnership with the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) to provide consensus-based guidance for Australian prescribers, pharmacologists and pathologists about drugs for which pharmacogenomic testing may be indicated. This project, funded by Australian Genomics, provides clinical indications for 35 medications for pharmacogenomic testing in Australia with the aim of improving medicine use by increasing efficacy and avoiding adverse reactions.  The project formed a multidisciplinary advisory group with experts in pathology, pharmacology, pharmacogenomics and prescribing practice from the RCPA, ASCEPT, PSA, University of Sydney, University of NSW, Monash University, University of Adelaide, University of Queensland and general practice. #pathology #pharmacology #pharmacogenomics https://lnkd.in/g-mYh_x4

❗ New Research Published ❗ I'm pleased to share our recent publication in Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice, where we conducted a systematic review of pharmacy practice and policy research in Türkiye from 2019-2024. This work sheds light on the evidence of growing pharmacy practice and policy research studies in Türkiye the ongoing challenges in our field. We hope it contributes to meaningful discussions and future improvements in healthcare policy. Excited to announce that our research, "A Prospective Observational Study on Determining the Utilization of Restricted Antibiotics Using Defined Daily Dose Calculations in A Quaternary Care Hospital," has been published in the International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Research (IJPPR), Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2024! 📖 Our study explores the usage patterns of restricted antibiotics across different departments and clinical conditions in the hospital setting, highlighting the importance of adherence to antimicrobial stewardship policies to prevent the rise of antibiotic resistance. Among the findings, Meropenem emerged as the most frequently prescribed antibiotic in our hospital setting. This work is the result of dedicated collaboration, and I'm grateful to have worked alongside co-authors Bala Krishnan P., John Felix S.N., Deepak Hari S.S., Vigneswaran R., Dr. Vishnu T., and Dr. Guru Prasad Mohanta.
