The first factsheet from the SESA Project Sustainable Energy Solutions Catalogue is dedicated to #emobility. Sustainable #electricmobility (e-mobility) encompasses a set of solutions in which innovative #electricvehicle technologies and business models are combined to improve mobility services in cities, periurban and rural areas. Though e-mobility solutions are only recently emerging in #Africa they are likely to play a key role in the transition to #sustainable and inclusive mobility in the region. The factsheet focuses on light electric vehicles (#EVs) such as e-motorcycles, e-tuk-tuks or tricycles, e-bicycles, and e-cargo bikes. These are the most common types of EVs deployed in African urban and rural areas, where 2- and 3-wheeled vehicles represent an important means of #transport. Learn more

EV or not to EV? ⚡ Having attended multiple events throughout the last few weeks on smart and clean mobility in AD, one can feel the immense efforts and focus by many stakeholders 🚀 including Abu Dhabi Mobility - ADMobility, SAVI Abu Dhabi, Hub71 and many many others honestly, to build an ecosystem that can enable a sustainable transition ⚡🚲 🚎 🛵 🛩⚡ especially with the fast pace of technology evolution. And being involved on the other hand with few founders in this area, i think there are two key takeaways on the radar, which will surely be auto adjusted as we progress further on the agendas: A - 💰 a need to fill an investment gap in clean energy ventures (ones with hardware) that can be more capital intensive than what most early stage investors around are used to... Other type of financing providers should be sought by founders in the meantime. B- 📈 a need to a more structured and harmonized growth of the ecosystem. Amongst supply chain (OEM, Operators, Energy providers, Infra) and end users (consumer, commercial) from one side, and then between tech readiness and regulations on the other side. A lot happening and things will start materializing, but i think a gradually increasing electrification targets can be helpful to help reaching the end targets sustainably. Looking forward!
