Next week, the International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility ICMIM will take place. Besides being involved in the conference organization, we will also present four papers: - In our paper “#Channel #Simulation and #Synchronization for Bistatic #ICAS Systems Based on #OFDM Waveforms”, we investigated the influence of propagation channels in highway scenarios onto the synchronization of ICAS nodes. It will be presented by Vimukthi Herath. - The paper “Emulation of Multipath Effects With Automotive #Radar Test System” is a joint publication with #Keysight #Technologies and #RWTH #Aachen University. There, we proposed a way to emulate #multipath caused by ground reflections with a radar target #emulator. Arvid Sims from Keysight will present the paper. - In “Generative Adversarial Synthesis of Radar Point Cloud Scenes”, we describe a #generative #adversarial #network (#GAN) designed to create artificial radar detection lists for the #verification of automotive radars.  The publication is a joint effort with RWTH Aachen University and will be given by Saad Nawaz. - Finally, we will present “Monostatic Millimeterwave Radar Imaging of Vulnerable Road Users”, a joint paper with #HMT of TU Ilmenau. Isabella Varga will demonstrate how #ISAR images can be used to identify #vulnerable road users like #bicyclists in #traffic scenarios. More details about these contributions will be shared soon. https://lnkd.in/g_wbWTPY New in IEEE Transactions on Robotics, we propose a multispectral multimodal visuotactile sensor named M3Tac, which combines visible, near-infrared, and mid-infrared imaging technologies for the first time and can exceed the sensing ability of human skin in terms of resolution (719 pixels/cm 2 ), temperature sensing range (−20–130degrees), etc. The M3Tac cannot only realize high-quality sensing of deformation, texture, force, stickiness, and temperature comparable to human skin but also can realize proximity sensing that is lacking for human skin. To achieve this, we not only design a multispectral imaging system with an elastic film whose light penetrability can be regulated by the brightness of the light, but also develop corresponding algorithms, including the pixel-level force sensing with finite element method (accuracy: ± 0.023N), the proximity perception (accuracy: ± 3.8 mm), the 3-D reconstruction (accuracy: 0.33 mm), the super-resolution temperature sensing (accuracy: ±0.3degrees), the multimodal fusion classification (accuracy: 98%), and the stickiness recognition (accuracy: 98%).

Photonect Interconnect Solutions (Juniyali Nauriyal, Cohort 2023) is developing an integrated photonic chip with broad applications for photonic devices, from consumer electronics to space exploration. The key? Photonect uses a laser adhesion technique to attach optical fibers to photonic chips. This technique is 10X faster and 4X more efficient than conventional glue methods and can reduce the cost of attachment by 50 percent.
