"Back on LinkedIn and already heading out" 😅 Time to pack my bags... I'm taking a month off starting today. I'll keep this account active and I'm excited to engage with you through my upcoming posts. France is known for having some of the most generous vacation time in the world. However, the reality is quite different when you're an entrepreneur. Even with the desire—and the need—to rest, there's always that nagging worry about what might happen while we're away. That's why having a business that can run without you is crucial. Beyond problem-solving and profitability, I believe one of the key goals of a business is to have systems so well-oiled that everything runs smoothly in your absence. For the first time in 4 years, I'll be able to truly disconnect because I know I can count on my team to take over. They'll handle support, marketing, app updates, and any potential issues. And each team member will later be able to take their own vacation with peace of mind because we've found a balance that works for us. 🙂 It's an incredible feeling to close my laptop and say, "see you in 4 weeks." Still, I'm curious about how I'll react. Will I REALLY disconnect? Will I resist the urge to check in on support and code just to keep a foot in the business and feel reassured? Is it uncomfortable not feeling indispensable? Let's revisit this when I return. For now, vacation calls! 🏝️ #vacation #entrepreneurship

Or is it?   Many entrepreneurs struggle to take a proper vacation, says career consultant Morten Esmann from IDA. My family and I have had this dream vacation on our minds for as long as I can remember. The one we’d say, “One day, we’ll do it”? that “one day” kept getting pushed further and further away. Life was busy, work was non-stop, and honestly, there never seemed to be a good time to step away. The one day I finally realized: there’s never going to be a perfect time. If I kept waiting for everything to magically fall into place, we’d never take that trip. And that thought hit me hard like, what if we just kept waiting forever? So, I made a decision. I told myself, enough is enough. I didn’t want this to be a "someday" thing anymore, I wanted it to happen now. But that also meant figuring out how to step away from work without everything falling apart. It wasn’t easy. I had to teach my VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS how to handle things while I was gone. I set up systems and automations to make sure the business could run without me for a bit. And honestly? It took a lot of trust. But I pushed through because I knew the trip was worth it. And finally, after TWENTY YEARS, we made it happen. We spent a week unplugged, exploring, laughing, and making memories I’ll carry with me forever. It was everything we dreamed of and more. And when I came back? The business was still standing. Everything was fine. Here’s what I learned: if you keep waiting for the perfect time, you’ll never take that trip, or spend that extra time with your family.
