Iondrive (ASX:ION) Ltd has initiated a Benchmarking Study with the Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) department at RWTH Aachen University, recognised for its expertise in automotive #BatteryTechnology and recycling. PEM is noted for its successful partnerships, including one with Henkel, which focus on next-generation battery technologies and improving battery safety and sustainability. This study will evaluate the economics of Iondrive’s battery recycling technology for a 10,000 tonnes per annum #BlackMass operation in Europe compared to traditional hydrometallurgical processes. Simultaneously, Iondrive has commenced an Engineering Study with Koch Modular Process Systems, a global leader in process engineering and modular construction. Koch Modular provides early-stage technology companies with vital data and insights to enhance commercialisation viability. In late November, Hycel welcomed Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia’s (HVIA) Adam Ritzinger, HVIA’s Chief Technical Officer, Michael Rose, HVIA’s National Manager for Skills, Training and Workforce Development and Greg Mitchell, Head of Clean Economy Initiatives at Bendigo Kangan Institute to Hycel Technology Hub, located at Deakin University’s Warrnambool campus. HVIA is the national peak body representing Australia's heavy vehicle industry, including manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers. Its mission is to advocate for policies and practices that enhance safety, productivity, and sustainability within the sector, while supporting technological innovation and workforce development. HVIA engages with government, stakeholders, and industry partners to address key challenges, promote standards, and ensure the heavy vehicle industry’s long-term growth and success. The group was impressed by Hycel’s industry focus and commitment to advancing research in the next generation of decarbonisation technologies right here in Australia. “I strongly encourage any HVIA member interested in hearing about the hub’s capabilities and offering to reach out to Hycel”, said Adam. “While the facility is only just gearing up, it has several areas that cater specifically for the heavy vehicle industry, including a dedicated workshop with a full-length service pit”, he added. HVIA are also coming on board to review ‘micro-credentials’ which are in development in conjunction with Engineering Education Australia (EEA). “Often, change starts with people, and programs like these are a great way to educate the workforce and further fuel the decarbonisation transition”, Michael said. “We’re very pleased to have been offered the chance to review the courses as part of the pilot program, and will share our findings with members in due course”, he added.
