❌📚Homework assignments during interviews? No thanks! If I couldn't take unpaid internships in college, why work for free now? Interviews are about what you can do, not what you can do for free. ❤️Years ago, as a young Bison, our professors never allowed us to take unpaid internships. Back then, I didn't realize the significance of their advice. The teachers at Howard University emphasized that my time was valuable, regardless of my level of experience and what the rest of the world would try to tell me. The guidance I received at Howard continues to shape my professional boundaries. 💙 🦬 I've had discussions about being asked to do homework assignments as part of the interview process, and my stance remains the same as it was when I was a student. I refuse to do unpaid homework assignments as part of an interview process. ✨ Whenever I'm scoping new projects or assessing opportunities, I remind myself to be my own advocate. I set boundaries, stick to them, and trust in my abilities. I know what I'm doing! 💪😊 📈 Finally, it's worth noting that some of the top tech companies listed on the NASDAQ have streamlined their hiring processes. They don't require candidates to complete homework assignments and respect their time and expertise. And somehow, these businesses continue to grow and innovate. Just something to think about! What are your thoughts?

What steps would I follow if I were a student seeking an internship now? - Update my LinkedIn Profile - Create a CV (Would suggest starting from scratch and not copy paste other CVs) - Prepare a cover letter - Connect with my ideal employer (Initially, I would connect with your seniors, college alumni, people working in the same field) - Nurture the connections and not spam them with random messages. - Through connections and other mediums I would apply for internships. If you were to apply for an internship what would you do? Day 73/90 #internship #tipsforcareer #linkedin #contentcreation #90dayschallenge

💼 The Struggles of Being a Junior I’ve been eagerly applying to internships—customizing my resume, writing all the cover letters, you name it. But I keep running into the same challenges: 📌 Most places want college seniors or recent grads. 📌 Many internships expect you to work full-time, 8-hour days—which is almost impossible to balance with my class schedule. 📌 And then there’s the silence. So many places say, “We’ll contact you,” but never do. Not knowing where you stand after putting in so much effort is frustrating. As a junior (third-year student), I feel like I am in a weird in-between stage. I’m not quite at the finish line, but I’ve worked hard to gain skills and experience that I know can make an impact. So how do you get a chance to prove that when you don’t tick the “senior” or “graduate” box? To my fellow juniors: 🙋♀️ How do you stay motivated when it feels like the odds aren’t in your favor? 💡 What’s something unique you’ve done to stand out in your applications? And to anyone who’s been in my shoes before: 📢 What’s one thing you wish you’d known when you were starting out? I’m staying optimistic and believe the right opportunity is out there. Let’s connect, share tips, and support each other through this journey! #InternshipHunt #CareerGrowth #JuniorYearChallenges #ProfessionalJourney #Internships

Here are 10 things someone told me before applying to an internship. 1. Getting a paid internship is tough. I don’t think it is, I have applied to so many and got accepted in most & they were paid. 2. This is the right format of the CV. That wasn’t. After so many days of research I got a template that got me accepted almost everywhere. 3. CV is everything while being selected. Is it? No. I mean it helps you qualify for the interview round so it can’t be all bad but it should be decent. The main focus should be the interview round. 4. Interviews are tough. No, they aren’t. So the trick is to be interactive, ask questions from them, be confident, smile and you’ll be good to go. 5. Apply to few. What I personally do is I apply to a lot of companies of my interest and if my CV gets approved in all of them, I simply choose for who’s interview I should sit. 6. Know your interests and then do the internship in that field. College life is all about knowing yourself better, applying to various internships, trying different things and knowing what suits you the most. 7. Do internships in the third year of your college. Maintain your college attendance and do internships in the first year, it teaches you balancing various things at once. 8. CV should include everything. CV should be of a single page and if you require more than one then keep the best things in your CV, leave the rest, it’s completely fine. 9. Cover letter should be on point. Cover letter should be truthful and all about how you actually are as a person. It shouldn't be sugar coated or overthinked upon a million times, it should be simple and all about you. 10. Probably everyone needs to hear this. Everyone is figuring out, it’s okay to be making the decision of doing fun in the first year of college and then picking up internships. I've learnt most of these the hard way so you don't have to. P.S. - These have been curated by my own experiences. Feel free to add more in the comments and reach out to me for any assistance. #internship #CV #AIESEConLinkedIn
