'Junior Explorers' are often short on cash and therefore time to get things right, this leads to communities and the environment becoming afterthoughts. This lack of respect for people and land leaves Junior Explorers often having to ask for forgiveness rather than permission - too little too late. Of course we have the confidence of working with world-class geologists, so above ground our approach is to start on the right foot, by taking the time to develop trust and respect from communities. This is driven by early and transparent co-operation, using proactive environmental research as early examples of good intention. This spring, severe flooding took place in the western regions of Kazakhstan and not only there. Many people, mostly in rural areas, lost their homes and stood with huge losses in their lives. It takes a very long time, sometimes years, to build your own house. It can be destroyed in a matter of hours. People needed a new shelter, a new beginning. Kazakhstani businesses provided this support and organized a campaign to buy apartments that could be built and finished in the shortest possible time. And so Bolashak from Uralsk received a big order and was able to complete the construction within 3 months. The buyer paid him the market price - about 600 euro/m2. How can this work? Look at these apartments, look at these houses, is this something temporary? No, these houses turned out to be the most comfortable and convenient in the region, and still at this price. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐫, 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 💦 ✔ The Almendra #Dam, also known as Villarino Dam, in Salamanca, #Spain, interrupts the course of the #River Tormes five kilometres from the #village from which it takes its name: Almendra (literally, almond). It was constructed between 1963 and 1970. ✔ The arch dam forms part of the #hydroelectric #system known as the Saltos del Duero (in English "the Duero Drops"), along with the Castro, Ricobayo, Saucelle and Villalcampo dams of Spain, and the Bemposta, Miranda and Picote Dams of nearby #Portugal. ✔ The #reservoir that backs up behind the dam covers 86.5 square kilometres and contains 2.5 billion cubic metres of water as well as several drowned villages, among them Argusinos.
