India's Intellectual Property Landscape is Booming! Over the past decade, India has seen a 1430% surge in early publication requests for patent applications and a 92.8% increase in patents filed. The number of patents granted has skyrocketed by 708%! These numbers highlight a powerful shift towards innovation, fueled by government efforts to streamline the IP process and support for startups and SMEs. Key improvements include reducing examination pendency from 2160 days in 2016 to just 120 days in 2022. This momentum shows India’s commitment to becoming a global leader in intellectual property. The chart illustrates the increasing trend in AU applications, with a notable rise from 101 applications received in 2009-10 to 11,298 applications received in 2023-24 (till January 2024).
