July is UV Safety Awareness Month! For those who work in the hot sun, it is important to remember the risks of UV exposure. With a shocking 1 in 5 Americans developing skin cancer by age 70, taking steps to protect your skin is essential! Here are some sun safety tips to help you stay protected: 1- Wear sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Reapply every two hours, or more often if you're sweating or swimming. 2- Cover up: Wear long sleeves, pants, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses to protect your skin from direct sun exposure. 3- Seek shade: Take breaks in shaded areas, especially during peak sun hours from 10 AM to 4 PM. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and to help regulate your body temperature. 4- Be aware of reflections: Water, sand, and concrete can reflect UV rays, increasing your exposure even if you're in the shade. Stay safe and protect your skin this summer! #sunsafety #uvsafetymonth #thewestlandway
