Filevine's Co-Founder and CEO, Ryan Anderson, recently led a lecture at the University of Connecticut School of Law on legal technology, entrepreneurship and finding one's fit in the legal profession. We're proud to have a CEO invested in giving back to the next generation and changing the future of law for the better! Read Ryan's story: https://lnkd.in/ekJ36EwA. #LegalTech | #Filevine | #LawStudents
Yesterday, my University of Connecticut School of Law students were the luckiest law students on earth. They got a complete masterclass from Filevine CEO Ryan Anderson. He covered everything from legal technology, to the entrepreneurial journey, to how to raise capital. Ryan was honest, humble, and downright vulnerable. It was the single richest class that I have ever been a part of. And I’ve had some brilliant teachers and professors. His presence was a complete act of charity. I asked him if he would be willing to zoom in for a half hour. He insisted on flying out to Hartford to teach in person. And he made the students an incredibly generous offer that if they built a product that people actually used he would personally introduce them to investors. To a classroom full of students with big ideas trying to figure out where they fit in the legal profession - I have no doubt that at least one of them will take him up on this and make a dent in changing the legal profession. Thank you, Professor Anderson.

In mediation, highlighting common themes can help parties recognize their similarities, even in the midst of conflict. This recognition can reduce hostility and build empathy, encouraging participants to work towards mutually beneficial outcomes. It humanizes the opposing side and fosters a sense of connection, which is vital for resolving disputes amicably. Learn how to communicate utilizing common themes Listen as Sue Wunder, Spinal Cord Injury Navigator, Blink of an Eye Nonprofit, describes one of her takeaways from our training back in June 2024. 📝Register NOW for the next Nationally Certified Mediation Training Session happening in October, 2024 www.baltimoremediation.com #mediationtraining #mediation #attorney #legal #law

Equal Justice America : Week 4 Update! As the summer semester approaches a close, my clinic has begun wrapping up some of our work, in preparation for the fall semester’s students to begin working. Working with my clinic has included some (positive) challenges, and has not been easy every step of the way. In this sense, I look forward to being able to focus on just my classes when the fall semester begins, but I also know I am going to miss working with my clients. It has been nice to build trust and relationships with them, and to know that they feel comfortable working with me. I am hopeful that they will be able to build similar, if not even better, relationships with the new students that we onboard to assist in their casework. I am also really excited to also see how working with the clinic will change how I approach learning and classwork, even though I’m not taking very many practice-based law courses this semester. I will be fulfilling my ‘legal writing requirement’ (LWR) set by this school this semester, and I hope that all of the note taking, research, document review, and drafting I’ve done over the summer will be reflected in the quality of my LWR paper. The paper will be written for my “Slavery and the Constitution” course, which I think will be a great exercise of me having to take a resonant topic that is difficult to remove my subjectivity from, but argue whatever my thesis will be with strong, logical, objectivity. I also think that the more personal lessons I’ve learned from my clients will help me to find new perspectives to frame my other courses, especially through lenses of ability, accessibility, and accountability. @Lincoln Square Legal Services Inc. with @Fordham University School of Law https://lnkd.in/eSkECrY4

Our litigation group operates in seamless cooperation with each of the firm’s other practice areas to promote a comprehensive and thorough approach to resolving disputes. Our attorneys’ skills are honed to the courtroom, but we view ourselves as strategic partners for clients, evaluating legal matters that could lead to or have developed into actual litigation, and advising on the best course of action. Our litigators analyze, prepare and present cases for resolution before state and federal courts, administrative law judges and arbitrators. We explore the appropriate use of out-of-court solutions through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. When litigation is the only solution, our attorneys are highly experienced and effective. We counsel and appear in court on behalf of an impressive array of clients in the public and private sectors, both for-profit and non-profit organizations. #litigation #dfwlawyer #dfwlawfirm

So, the last week of this academic term has arrived! This time of year is always a little bittersweet. Whilst students are always happy to be 'finished' there is always that apprehension about upcoming assessments and I always get the last minute panicked emails about whether they have 'done enough'. I am always surprised by this as I see, week in week out, just how much work the students in our Law Clinic do. I see how many people they have helped and the difference they are making. We, like most pro-bono organisations, always get far more enquiries than we could ever help with, but I am very proud of the work we have been able to do in just 24 short weeks (I will also add the fact that students work on cases on average around 5 hours per week). I hope that all the students involved in the Law Clinic this year go away with a sense of pride in what they have achieved and a good understanding of what their world may be like in the future. We try and give our students a well rounded experience of everything they may encounter in legal practice, from client interactions and research to billing and commercial awareness all the way through to brand building and marketing. I know a role in law is complex and multi-layered and hopefully the employers out there will see this experience and understanding when our incredible students come and work for them in the future! For now, I will round off with some stats that may hopefully make our students slightly less anxious going into that final assessment.... Number of client enquiries received since September: 215 (and counting) Number of clients helped: 94! Number of different areas of law we assisted in: 11 Amount of money raised for charity: A whopping £2,028 going to LawWorks this year to help even more people who need pro-bono legal advice. So, to all of our students: be proud of what you have achieved this year, I certainly am, and I am looking forward to seeing what you all achieve in the future 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Sunderland Law School Dawn Lowrie Dr. Katherine Langley Caroline Lewis Sarah Louise Stainsby, TEP Kieran Doran #proudeducator #university #employabilityskills #futurelawyers #solicitors #barristers #law #education #probono
