On 28 November 2024 in Bangkok, the ASEAN-UK Supporting the Advancement of Girls’ Education Programme (ASEAN-UK SAGE) unveiled the 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐭-𝐨𝐟-𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚, shedding light on the alarming rise in Out-of-School Children and Youth in the region. . During the opening session, Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat emphasised the urgency of addressing education gaps, indicating that a concerning increase in the number of Out-of-School Children and Youth in the region, from close to seven million in 2017 to nearly twelve million today. . This research, co-authored by EdTech Hub and the SEAMEO Secretariat, is part of the 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍-𝐔𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 (https://lnkd.in/gjYAVeEz) delivered by the SEAMEO Secretariat and British Council, in partnership with the Australian Council for Educational Research and EdTech Hub.
