Turėjome dvi labai įdomias, produktyvias dienas ir dar daugiau malonių, prasmingų pažinčių.😊 ----- #MonthlyReview We're almost there for that magical, festive December.✨ But NOVEMBER wasn't a sad one either, because as always, we had interesting things to do and inspiring meetings to attend.🤗 So, let's take a quick look at that: 🔸 We distributed extra sets of guide equipment to 16 of the biggest schools in Vilnius to make lessons outside school even smoother and more fun. Thanks to the school representatives for their impressions and comments during the meeting.☺️ 🔹 It's great to contribute to the internationalisation of educational institutions in the capital. 5 schools in Vilnius are among the 10,000 schools on every continent studying the Cambridge Programme. Another 6 schools have chosen the International Baccalaureate programme for their subjects, and 4 kindergartens are pursuing International Baccalaureate status.👏 🔸 We had a safe (no floods🙈) and productive visit to Spain, where we presented the Vilnius is a School project at the Smart City Expo 2024 international fair. Every time we are delighted that our city's practices are attracting the interest of other cities - even other countries!🥳 🔹 We also had guests in our city. We helped organize the visit of a delegation of educators from Lviv to Vilnius. We had two very interesting, productive days and even more pleasant, meaningful friendships.😊

Join us in celebrating Global Exhibitions Day 2024. Exhibitions are more than just physical spaces. They are powerful platforms where ideas come to life and businesses connect with their audience. They serve as venues for unveiling innovation and also play a vital role in contributing to the economy by providing employment opportunities and facilitating trade and investment. Sustainability - the need of the hour As the world faces growing environmental challenges, it's time for businesses to step up and take responsibility. Our guiding principle - "if we do good, we will prosper" - should extend beyond the office walls to our presence in the exhibition space. A brilliant accessibility option for events: Cérge (Free this year for QLD event businesses) There are 3 key things that help travellers with disability (96% of whom don't use a wheelchair or mobility device): 1. Easily accessible information on how an event is accessible (even if it isn't wheelchair accessible) 2. Customer service that is inclusive and compassionate 3. Infrastructure such as highly contrasting colours to help people with low vision to navigate and wheelchair access (such as paved pathways) Cérge is a solution for the first - it provides comprehensive information in many ways so people with access needs can make decisions about where to travel. Cerge provides content for your website, their website, and their app on how your event is accessible. The fee is very affordable, starting at $600 set up and $600 per year (price is based on the complexity of the sensory environment and the number of zones e.g. entry, stage area, market area) Check out how Cerge works from a user's perspective (for a business, but the principles apply for an event): https://lnkd.in/gRzn6ix2 https://cerge.app Now for the free for QLD businesses part! In the Tourism Business Digital Adaption Program, event businesses can get up to $2,500 in rebates to improve their digital capabilities - and Cerge is a preferred supplier! https://lnkd.in/gY_PHJ6S

⏰ One Year Until World Expo 2025: A Dream Island or a Costly Nightmare? 🏗️As Osaka prepares to host World Expo 2025, the 60,000-square-metre all-wood Grand Ring Roof is nearing completion. Set to become one of the world's biggest all-timber structures, this instant architectural icon on Osaka's 'dream island' embodies Japan's ambitious vision for the future. However, behind the awe-inspiring construction lies growing concerns about the viability and aftermath of the expo. 🔍 Key Insights: 1️⃣ Monumental Structure with Uncertain Future: While the Grand Ring Roof impresses as a feat of engineering and design, questions loom about its post-Expo use and the justifiability of its staggering $230 million construction cost. The plans to transform the site into a resort island with Japan’s first casino are now delayed, casting shadows over the financial and functional foresight of the project. 2️⃣ Construction Challenges: The Expo faces significant hurdles, including major construction delays exacerbated by a labour shortage affecting Japan's fourth-largest economy. With only a fraction of the pavilions underway and the total costs ballooning to over $1.5 billion, stakeholders express concerns over meeting the ambitious deadlines and budget. 3️⃣ Debating the Need for World Expos: Amidst the preparations, there is a broader contemplation about the relevance of World Expos in the modern era. While historical expos like those in Paris and Seattle have left lasting legacies, there is scepticism about the necessity and impact of such grand events in today's context. 🗣️ #questionforgroup: As the costs and challenges of hosting mega-events like World Expo 2025 escalate, should cities and countries continue to pursue these ambitious projects? What is the balance between showcasing innovation and managing practical, financial, and environmental constraints? 💬 Let’s discuss the implications of Osaka’s Expo 2025 from an architectural, economic, and cultural perspective. Please share your thoughts on how such events can be designed to ensure they leave a sustainable legacy and justify their enormous investments. 🔗 For a comprehensive overview of the developments and dilemmas surrounding Expo 2025 Osaka and the massive timber structure at its heart, delve into the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gQ5ysnqX #expo2025japan #expo2025 #osaka #japan #construction #sustainablearchitecture #worldexpo #expo #construction #wood #timber #masstimber #masstimberconstruction #engineering #timberconstruction #timberengineering #woodcentral #woodcentralau1 #architectureanddesign #costs #greenbuildings #woodenconstruction #futureofbuildings #woodsolutions #makeitwood #greenbuildings #netzero #netzeroconstruction #buildings #netzero2050
