In October, we renamed the Fritz Duras Memorial Lecture – a biennial series dating back to 1968 – to the HOPE (Health, Outdoor and Physical Education) lecture. The lecture was named for Duras with reason, given his formative place in the history of the Faculty of Education. But there are good reasons, now, for his name to be removed. Today | 1:30pm ET: Looking forward to participating in this panel discussion with colleagues from around the university on the role of free speech in fostering the mission of universities. What is the difference between speech and expression? What role does civil discourse play in fostering an environment where speech is protected. One of the greatest challenges is that faculty and even administrators often fail to understand these rules and what they mean. https://lnkd.in/dVJR9mYx

Tomorrow marks the start of a multi-agency, co-productive effort to revise the West Sussex 'Ordinarily Available Inclusive Practice' (OAIP) guidance for the first time since it's publication in 2021. I'm personally very excited to be leading on this work. In this review, it's important that: •content is revised and co-produced with a range of stakeholders •terminology is up to date and inclusive •the information and strategies suggested follow the latest neuro-scientific research, pedagogical theory, and evidence-based research You can see the current OAIP here: https://lnkd.in/e8WjnyH
