"Bologna with student eyes 2024", the eagerly awaited #report was published. The main source for the #publication is the #data received from the national unions of students (NUSes), obtained through an extensive compilation of #surveys covering both #quantitative and #qualitative information, with questions about the state of play and the unions’ #perceptions. The new #Bologna Process Implementation report has been recently published. It examines the latest policy commitments and their implementation in the European #HigherEducation Area (EHEA). We have asked our analysts to reply to the following questions : 🔵 What are the policy commitments of the EHEA and how far are the countries/educational systems in the process of implementing these commitments? 🔵 How have countries within the EHEA incorporated the six fundamental values agreed by the EHEA (academic #freedom, academic #integrity, institutional #autonomy, student and staff participation, and public responsibility for and of higher education) and defined these values in their own education systems and national legislations? 🔵 How are countries faring in terms of EHEA’s #social dimension policy? 🔵 How have higher education institutions supported the #Ukrainian academic community? It’s a stable and mature market, and while there have been no significant shifts recently, one segment is growing fast: the #junior market. 📈 Alexandre Argenta, President of the agency association Belta told BONARD Education: “Overall, the numbers are pretty stable in Brazil for all kinds of programmes. 📢 Excited to announce that our article, "What competencies public policy education promises: A qualitative comparative analysis of university types, education levels, and courses in Turkey", co-authored with Volkan Göçoğlu, has been finally and officially assigned to Volume 30, Issue 3 (2024) of the Journal of Public Affairs Education! This issue, themed “Evolving Dynamics in Public Affairs Education: Challenges, Advancements, and Future Directions,” explores key gaps in public affairs education as challenges. 🗞️ Media Literacy Day is an opportunity to reflect on one of the greatest challenges of our time: disinformation. On December 4th, I am honored to join the panel discussion “Disinformation is a Civic War” at the event hosted by Público. It’s a critical conversation, as the spread of false information undermines democratic processes and erodes public trust in institutions. As highlighted by David Pontes, Director of PÚBLICO, media literacy is not just an educational tool—it’s a civic necessity. Since the creation of PÚBLICO na Escola 34 years ago, their commitment to fostering critical thinking among young people has made a meaningful impact. Initiatives like this and programs such as PSuperior, which provide digital subscriptions to university students, are vital in equipping citizens with the skills to discern fact from fiction. The presence of His Excellency the President of Portugal, as well as the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation and the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs reinforces the urgency of addressing disinformation at the highest levels of public and civic discourse. Disinformation thrives on division, but media literacy empowers unity. By promoting critical thinking and the responsible consumption of information, we strengthen the foundations of democracy. SONAE has been supporting PÚBLICO for 34 years, with the deep belief that its high quality standards and editorial independence contribute to cherish Democracy.
