Assets of PRIDE Self-Paced Training (All Modules available now for free on Mentorist.org) What are Assets of PRIDE and why are they important for LGBTQ+ youth? Asset: A quality or a resource. Pride: A feeling of value and self-worth. Since the start of 2024, 484 anti-LGBT bills have been proposed in states across the US. These bills hold the potential to harm an entire generation of young people. As a caring adult, you may wonder how you can offer support when more and more laws are restricting services and spaces for LGBTQ+ young people. The good news is that there are specific and individual actions that each of us can take that can make a difference. This week, I am pleased to share that the entire Assets of PRIDE trainings are now live on my webpage--Mentorist.org. This training series include free, self-paced courses that look at research on the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ youth, the impact of anti-LGBT laws, and steps that caring adults can take to change trajectories caused by shame and stigma in our current climate. These include modules that can help you inspire PRIDE in LGBTQ+ young people during your interactions and programming: -Possibilities (Encouraging LGBTQ+ youth to see hopeful futures for themselves) -Resilience (Building queer growth mindsets and fine tuning skills to bounce back after adversity) -Identity (Attuning social and emotional support to help LGBTQ+ young people navigate through critical moments in their identity journey) -Development (Creating relationship experiences that foster positive youth development) - Engagement (Building spaces of belonging and connection at home, in school, and through mentoring) This series is meant to show how intentional acts of being an ally—our ongoing moments and commitments to showing up and showing care—can offer some layers of support and protection at such a critical moment in time I encourage you to subscribe to updates and news on Mentorist, share this free resource your networks, and to reach out if you have questions or want to learn more about how to incorporate this training into your services.
