It was nice to chat to Jen Hogan of The Irish Times about the challenges students face on the run up to the state exams. As we know, they can be stressful times for students and their parents, but if students keep working steadily for the next 8 weeks it can all come together, and they can achieve their goals in the exams. Here is a link to the full article; https://lnkd.in/eXq6h3MF

'The government is bringing in caps. TKN penned a piece on 10 April titled Capping student numbers: We already have a system in place. Why is no one talking about it? In it, it highlights the fact there already is a cap system in place – the CRICOS register. In short, each institution that seeks to provide education to international students must be registered on CRICOS.... The question the Koala has is why do we need new legislation when the Minister already has a system in place which will do exactly what he needs?' I have the same question. Please explain.
Breaking: New legislation to be introduced next week introducing caps (among other things)

New on Wonkhe: Wonkhe and Mills & Reeve have been exploring how stronger connections between providers could prepare the sector to face the future as well as tackle today's financial challenges – and what's missing from the current legal and regulatory landscape https://lnkd.in/ehgWc--r "If, as some believe, the sector is on the cusp of entering into a new phase of higher education, a much more connected and networked system, tied more closely into regional development agendas, and more oriented to the collective public value that higher education creates, then the thinking needs to start now about how to enable providers to take part in the strategic discussions and scenario plans that can help them to imagine that kind of future, and develop the skills to operate in the new ways that a different HE landscape could require. It is these discussions that need to inform the development of the HE strategy."

The AP exam season is coming up. Let's make sure we're providing our students with the support they need to succeed: 📚 Help students find free/low-cost AP study guides and practice exams online. Khan Academy is a great free resource. 💸 Remind students to take advantage of College Board fee waivers if cost is a barrier. 👥 Suggest students form study groups with peers - this can make prep more collaborative and fun. 👋 Check in with students regularly as exams approach. Let them know you're available for help and encouragement. By ensuring access and promoting community, we can set up our students for AP exam success. This is one important step on their path to higher education. 🎓 #APExams #StudyTips #Accessibility #EquityInEducation #StudentSuccess #CollegeReadiness #FeeWaivers #Advisors
