By emphasizing the spatial arrangement of atoms and the geometry of molecules, the ball-and-stick model brings abstract concepts to life. But how effective is this model in teaching? The answer lies in its ability to provide a three-dimensional insight into molecular structures. It allows students to visualize bond angles, molecular geometry, and the nature of chemical bonds—concepts that can be challenging to grasp through 2D diagrams alone. Moreover, the interactive nature of physical ball-and-stick models encourages hands-on learning. Students can build and manipulate structures, making the learning experience both engaging and memorable.
