Thrilled to share the ACT-IAC whitepaper on Federal IT Spend Standardization! I collaborated with a talented team to delve into the challenges of Federal government IT spending, resulting in actionable recommendations for Agency processes and data to boost efficiency and transparency. The effort also resulted in several support documents available on ACT-IAC.org Check out the agency white-paper at: https://lnkd.in/dtjwydYq #ACTIAC #ITSpendStandardization #FederalIT #GovernmentEfficiency #PublicService

The German Federal Data Protection Authority (BfDI) and the UK Information Commissioner (ICO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, outlining principles for cooperation in a non-binding manner. The BfDI highlights the ICO’s Future Foresight program as an area for potential closer collaboration. It is nice to see cross-border cooperation between EU member state and UK government agencies 🇪🇺 🇩🇪 🇬🇧 #DataProtection #Cooperation #Germany #UK

🔍 FOIA Requests: Fully Redacted, Fully Curious Have you ever submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to a government department, eagerly awaiting clarity, only to receive a response that’s completely redacted? Black boxes everywhere! It’s one of those moments where you’re left wondering, “What was the point?” But as contractors, transparency is key to navigating federal opportunities and aligning with agency priorities. This experience got me thinking—how often does this happen to others? And how can we, as small business owners and contractors, improve communication with agencies to better understand their needs (without relying on FOIAs as a primary tool)? To my LinkedIn network: How can businesses proactively align with agency goals to minimize surprises and obtain the “Freedom” of information needed to competitively bid? I’d love to hear some thoughts on this… #GovCon #FOIA #GovernmentTransparency #ContractingSuccess #Partnerships #FreedomofInformation

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has revealed in a recent report that the backlog of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests at federal agencies has significantly increased, attributing this not only to technological challenges but also to a mix of complex requests, staffing shortages, and litigation risks. With backlogs rising from 14% in 2013 to 22% in 2022, the GAO's audit, spanning from January 2023 to March 2024, highlighted that outdated FOIA management systems and insufficient software are key obstacles in efficiently processing the growing volume of electronic records and complex requests such as emails and internal communications. Despite these challenges, some agencies have successfully leveraged new technologies to streamline processes, notably through robotic process automation, resulting in substantial time savings and improved efficiency. The GAO's recommendations include governmentwide tech upgrades and standardized systems to tackle these issues, while lawmakers stress the importance of transparency and the need for resources to fulfill FOIA's promise, underlining the critical role of FOIA in maintaining the public's trust in government. #foia #governmentaccountability #transparency #technologicalchallenges #staffingshortages #litigationrisks #documentmanagement #efficiency #publictrust #transparencyweek Source- https://lnkd.in/gZ8n3Z6c
