Just got our last set of minor junctions within Kabango town complete, one to Kinyara Sugar Ltd and the other to Ikoba. The junctions exist along the Kabango town road that links to Masindi & Biiso urban cneters. Key factors considered are; #Saftey- A raised pedestrian walkway and crossings, a layout geometry that accommodates the turning requirements of 16.7m long & 3.75m wide vehicle. For a comfortable driver maneuver across the #junctions, the major road was maintained with its cross fall/superelevation while smoothly grading the minor road approach to marry into the major. This also ensures proper flow for surface water runoff. Left diverging #tapers have also been included to cater for space requirements at turning locations. A physical island to separate and diverge oppositely moving traffic has also been adopted to minimize #motorist clashes. Additional safety measures are proposal for hump provision, road marking & #signages etc. #Vertical baseline & #horizontal #baseline-The centerline & edge baselines have been maintained to the existing #road centers for the horizontal and to the existing ground levels for the vertical baseline.
