Common plant deficiencies in aquaponics Nutrient deficiencies in aquaponics systems—where symbiotic cultivation combines aquaculture and hydroponics—pose a significant challenge, potentially compromising plant growth and jeopardizing harvest yields. Similar to conventional gardening or farming, plant deficiencies are a widespread issue. In aquaponics, these deficiencies arise when essential nutrients are insufficiently available in the water or fish waste used to nourish the plants. Such deficiencies are a frequent concern, impacting growth and rendering plants more vulnerable to pests and diseases. The initial crucial step in addressing or preventing these deficiencies involves acknowledging the problem and pinpointing the specific nutrient lacking for your plants. Additionally, the article below provides insights into common plant deficiencies in aquaponics and offers practical solutions to address them. 📣 Cool season sod owners: listen up! Mid-September through mid-October is a perfect time apply pre-emergent herbicides to your cool season sods to kill winter weeds before they germinate. So block off some time in your lawn care routine for this beneficial step. *CAUTION: If you are planning to overseed your lawn, do not apply pre-emergents to the grass. Pre-emergents will inhibit seed from germinating.

Make sure to manage your weed growth this season! It's important to understand that soybeans have limited ability to compete with weeds, which can rob them of moisture, and nutrients, and hinder their growth. To effectively control weeds, consider using either mechanical or chemical methods. Both approaches should be executed following strict guidelines. A rotary hoe is an efficient tool for mechanical weed control, and row cultivation should be conducted carefully. If you opt for chemical weed control, assess the soil type and moisture before applying any products. To determine which method is best for your farm, click through and learn more: https://bit.ly/48Rk3IL ...

Get your weed under control this season! It is important to note that soybeans have limited capacity to compete with weeds, depriving them of moisture, nutrients and ultimately growth. The right move would be to make sure that you implement either mechanical or chemical weed control. Both practices must be handled according to strict guidelines. For mechanical weed control, a rotary hoe is effective while cultivation between rows should be handled carefully. If you prefer chemical weed control, make sure to look at soil type and moisture before application. Protect your canola against aphids! Canola is very vulnerable to aphid infestations during the early growth stages, specifically the cabbage aphid (𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘦). ⚠️ If your crop is affected by 𝘉. 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘦, you will notice tiny, soft-bodied, grey-green bugs. Other signs of infestation include yellowing and curling leaves.⚠️ Compared to other aphids, cabbage aphids have shorter cornicles and a waxy coating. This helps to tell them apart from other aphids that feed on canola plants as well. Luckily, Klartan® 240 EW is a fast-acting pyrethroid insecticide that can be used to control aphids on canola.
